Lesson Number Lesson Description


Investigating: Students will explore a variety of current theme parks
1 through YouTube and images to identify what makes up a theme park
and how do they satisfy the needs for all types of people.

Defining: Students will re-cap the idea of sustainability and what living
2 sustainably means. Students will watch a video and then complete an
activity that encourages sustainable living through a rally robin

Investigating: Students will participate in an excursion to Kings Park


and Rio Tinto’s NatureScape park. Here they will explore all of the
3 different ways that sustainability can be implemented within a
recreational venue.

Generating: Students will reflect on their excursion to Rio Tinto’s


NatureScape. Using De Bono’s thinking hats, students will think
4 critically and creatively in groups, to come up with other sustainable
attraction ideas to include in their own nature fun theme parks.

Collaborating and managing: Students will be introduced to the idea of


a budget. As a class create a budget for an example nature fun theme
5 park. Make sure to include all the necessary needs and wants of the
class with a strong focus on sustainable attractions and services.

Producing: Students will begin making their 3-D mini theme parks.
Provide students with different types of environmentally friendly
6 materials such as cardboard, coloured paper, old fabric or recycled
plastics. encourage students follow on with the example from lesson 5.

7 Producing: Students will continue working on their 3-D mini theme parks

Evaluating: Students will present their 3-D mini theme parks to their
peers and Mr. Stark by walking around the class. Desks will be set out
8 so that there is a walkway with each students work clearly visible.
Students will discuss at the end their favourite ideas.
