Objectives
By the end of class, students should be able to:
1. to unlock the meaning of the unfamiliar words
2. to extract the central idea or message of the story

The class will be divided into 4 groups and;

1. The class will be given an activity regarding their view about the word ‘revenge’.

2. The teacher will ask them if what other words can be associated to it.
4 Group labels (cartolina or manila
paper and marker)
3. The teacher then asks the class if revenge is really necessary.

Students will further answer the following questions briefly:


Have you ever been so angry?

Did you seek revenge against the person who insulted you?

In today’s lesson, we will tackle more about the word revenge.


ENGAGE (Get the students’ minds focused on the topic (short; question or picture).
 Show pictures that are connected in the literary piece for example the wine,
catacombs etc. Pictures about the story
 Ask a question about revenge, for example; Is revenge good or bad? Why? PowerPoint Presentation

The teacher will display the story and she will call different students to read each PowerPoint Presentation
paragraph while the rest of the students are reading.it silently. Projector

From time to time the teacher will explain/ comment something about the read PowerPoint Presentation
paragraph to make the story more understandable or clear to the students. Projector

ELABORATE (Students apply the information learned in the Explain).


After reading the entire story the teacher will ask the following questions;
Give the setting of the story.
Who are the main characters in the story?
What can you say about Montresor’s character? How does
he appeal to you?
What do you think is the reason why Montresor did such
crime? PowerPoint Presentation
How do you view Fortunato’s character in the story? Projector
If you were Montresor, are you going to do the same thing to
revenge?
What do you think is the message of the writer for the
readers?
What have you realize after reading the story?
What message does the story try to tell us?

EVALUATE (How will you know the students have learned something from the story/)?
To evaluate the students the teacher will display the following questions on the
board and they will answer it on the one half sheet of paper, they have 10 minutes to
do it.
Is revenged justified in the story? Why?
How do actions have serious consequences for others, even if you aren’t aware of
them?
EXTEND (Deepen conceptual understanding through use in new context).
The class will be divided into 3 groups and the teacher will give each group a
task about the literary piece they have tackled.
Group 1 will make a slogan about revenge.
Group 2 will make a poster about revenge.
Group 3 will choose a scene in the story and act it.
