Activities:
Imitating Animals:
First, the flashcards will be shown and mentioned to the students, after, all the kids and the teacher
will imitate the animal (if it’s a dog, so the teacher will make the sound of a dog “wouf, wouf”, if it’s
a cow so the teacher will make the sound of a cow “mou, mou”, if it’s a elephant, the teacher will
make the sound and imitation of an elephant… and the same with the rest of the animals) the
vocabulary will be repeated more musically like this: What sound? X3 Does a
(dog,cat,cow,elephant,giraffe,…) make? A (cat,dog,elephant,giraffe…) says Meow, meow, meow.

Guessing game:
Sit them in a circle, place animal figurines in a bag and put it in the center of the circle, say the
children’s name and let them insert their hand in the bag and try to guess which animal they are
touching.

Activities:
Find the animals:

Students are going to listen the animals sounds, then the’re going to run and touch the
corresponding farm animal. Stick some flashcards on the wall.

Chase the animals:


Some students will be paste a flashcards in their chest and they’ve to run in order not to be
touch by their classmates, when this happens the children dressed as an animal has to go to
one corner of the classroom, the game finishes when all the animals are caught by their
classmates, repeat again with other students.

Activities:
Musical animals

Play music. When the music stops, show children an animal illustration. They imitate the animal
sound and move around as the animal would. When the music resumes, children simply dance.
Visit the farm
This game consists in put some pictures of the animal’s farm around the patio, teacher will be
the guide and will dressed different (just put a hat ++on your head to catch their attention) and
say the different animals that will be found around the way, make a line behind the teacher and
act if all of you were inside a tractor (so, make sound like “chuchu” or “chuku chuku chuku
chuchu”).

Activities:

Feed the animal


Flashcards will be put on the floor, each student will be given a bean, and the teacher will call
their names and say the animal that should be fed, and the student will put the bean above the
animal’s flashcard that was supposed to be fed.

Play time:
Start off sitting together playing with the farm animals and any other farm toys to go with them
(buildings and barns, tractors, pens, other animals, etc.). For larger classes, if you have enough
sets you can put the class into groups with the animal toys to play with. At this stage, you don’t
need to do any direct teaching – just play with the animals and have fun together!
Watch students having fun and imitating the farm animals, often ask them: What is that? to
make sure they know the vocabulary.

Put the animal on the flashcard:


have 5 animals toys sitting on their flashcards. Pick up each animal toy and throw it somewhere
in the classroom. Call out different students to pick up an animal and place it back on the correct
flashcard.
3 Farm 1 Project:

follow the teacher’s instructions.

Run and take it:
Put some repeated flashcards on the floor. Then, when you count to three students have to run,
take a flashcard and return to their positions. Next, teacher is going to ask to Each of them what
member of the family they have in the flashcard.

Lightning Flashcards:
The teacher stands at the front of class with flashcards. Students form two teams standing in a
line. Two Students go first and face away from the Teacher, the teacher says 1.2.3. what is it?
The Students quickly turn around and the first Student to call out the correct answer wins a point

Basket toss:
Two (or more) teams. Students take turns throwing a soft die into a basket. If the die goes in, the
team scores 10 points; if not, the team receives the number of points on the die. Before the
students can throw their die, they must either identify a flashcard or perform a task assigned by
the instructor, such as ‘Jump’ or ‘Touch your nose’ or ‘Open the door,’ etc.

Fishing game:
Make or buy some fishing rods with magnets for hooks. Attach paper clips to the ends of cards
so that the students can ‘fish’ for them.

Activities:
Grandpa Is Deaf
Materials: Feeling Flashcards/Family Flash Cards, namely Grandpa.

Have them sit in a small group on the floor. Intro the cards in a terribly lacklustre manner. Show
them the grandpa card. Act like an old man, say "Eh? What?" and put your hand to your ear.
They will either laugh or think you are an idiot, either way make sure they know that grandpa is
deaf. If possible tape the card to your chest. Then, walk to the other end of the room. Shuffle the
cards. Show the top card, have them repeat it in the same no-spit-shine way. Then approach
one step, say "WHAT?" and put your hand to you ear. Do it again and again until you are right
up on them and they are literally screaming the FC name. Stumble back surprised. Hilarity
ensues.

Hide the cards


Count how many there are. Get kids to line up and lead them out of the classroom into the
corridor outside and sit them down. Explain that they have to be quiet and they have to count to
10. Whilst they do this, creep back into the classroom and hide the cards (but in very obvious
places) so that the kids can see part of them. Then walk back outside and lead the kids in again,
making a big show of the fact you have lost your baby. Look around the room and encourage
the kids to find the cards. When all have been found, elicit them all then count them up and
check you have the right amount. Rinse and repeat yeah.

Activities:
Card Toss:
Teacher calls a card and then throws all the flashcards up in the air, and the student who finds
the one called gets points.

Crazy Bus!
Put the children in a circle and have them sit down. You become a Crazy Bus using the F/C as a
steering wheel. Drive around stopping at each kid asking them to identify a Flash Card. Once
they say the card they form a train(bus) behind you. Everyone says “Lets Go”!!!!!!! Continue until
all the kids are in a train behind you and crash the bus. (Bradley)

Activities:
Teach the vocabulary

Touch the flashcards with body parts


Stick some flashcards in the wall, then, say a body part out loud; students have to run and touch
the correct image with the corresponding body parts. ex: touch the head flashcard with their
heads.

Simon says
Have the students stand in a circle & demonstrate that when you call out ‘Please touch your
[body part]’ the students must do so as quickly as possible, but that if you only call out ‘Touch
your [body part]’ they are not to do so. Any students that make a mistake sit down. Continue
play until there are a handful of champions, until only one student remains, or you’ve
successfully knocked them all of the students out of the game

Activities:
Make A Face
Prepare 5 envelopes, each containing up to 6 different laminated facial body parts (i.e., one for
noses, one for eyes, etc). Divide the students into teams & have them perform a task (identify
flashcards, answer questions, etc). The winning team gets to pick one body part from one
envelope. The first team to complete their face wins.

Funny race
Pair the students off & have them stand at one end of the classroom or play area. Each pair of
students draws 2 cards from the bag; these are the body parts that will be ‘stuck’ together (e.g.,
hand & nose). After all the students are ‘stuck’ they must race to the other side of the classroom
/ play area & back. Penalize or disqualify any pairs that become unstuck during the course of the
race, & laugh uproariously at the pairs that triumph - or don’t - over difficult matches (nose-foot).

Sing and dance Head, shoulders, knees and toes song.

Please point at the body part
Have students in pairs looking each other, then say “please point at any body part” and kids
must do it as quickly as possible.

Bodiless:
Review body parts with the students and introduce the “No (body part)” concept. In teams or
independently, the students must then transport flashcards from one end of the room to the
other while following your commands: “No hands”, “No legs”, etc, Make sure the students
correctly identify the flashcards they’re transporting.

Activities:

Wiggle, wiggle and freeze.


Teacher establishes a body part and sings “wiggle, wiggle, wiggle” when the T say freeze,
students must stop dancing and be quiet, and so on until all the vocabulary is reviewed

Make a monster

Students are going to paint a monster face according to the teacher instructions..

members Call one student to go to one corner of the room, then give him/her one side of the telephone
and body made with glasses and ropes. Then ask him/her to put the glass on this ear and listen the word
parts you are going to tell him/her. Then, as soon as possible the student must touch that body part.
Spin the Bottle:
Sit students in a circle with a bottle in the middle. Teacher spins the bottle. When it stops
spinning the S it is pointing to is shown a flashcard and asked to say what it is. If the answer is
correct then that S can spin the bottle. This is a good vocab review activity

Vanishing Flashcards Game:
place a number of flashcards in front of the students. Give them a few moments to memorize
the pictures and then tell them to close their eyes. Take away one of the flashcards and then tell
the students to open their eyes again. The first S to guess the missing flashcard can win that
flashcard (for 1 point) and take away a flashcard in the next round.

Slam:
Sit the students in a circle and place some flashcards in the middle of the circle. Tell students to
put their hands on their heads. Teacher shouts out the word of one of the flashcards and the
students race to touch it. The S who touches it first get to keep the object. The S who has the
most flashcards at the end of the game is the winner.

Roll that Dice:


Split class into 2 to 4 teams. Place flashcards on board and number them. Younger Students:
Teacher says: Point to the ______. S should point to that card. If correct then S rolls dice for
points. If incorrect S gets help from team. Older Students: Teacher says: What's picture number
4? S says the vocabulary word. If correct then S rolls dice for points. If incorrect S gets help from
team.

Activities:
The shark
Select a child who will be the shark. The shark must try to touch one of the other children. When
he succeeds, the child who was touched becomes the shark. Variation: The child who is touched
must stop moving and hold his arms out to his side. He can be saved if another child runs under
his stretched out arms. Several children can have their arms stretched out at the same time. You
will have to change sharks often since this activity is quite demanding for little sharks.

Blowing bubbles
Flashcards will be put on the wall, and teacher will call their names and say what animal they
have to blow, so, the teacher will give them foam for the bubbles.

Activities:
Flying fish
For this activity, you will need a blanket. Each child must hold one end of the parachute. The
flashcards one by one in the center of the blanket. When you give the signal, children can move
the parachute up and down to represent waves and send the flashcards flying through the air.

Activities:
Complete the dolphin
Each student will be given a part of the dolphin and has to place it correctly.
Shark without teeth
Each student will be given a tooth and should be put in the mouth of the shark.
Sticky fingers:
Now try the sticky fingers game. All the kids shout out "What can you see?" and you shout out "I
can see a .. " + either the magic word or any other word. ( The game explanation explains it all!).
The trick is to do just one round of Sticky Fingers, then introduce the next word, "crab", again
with gestures.
Then do another round of sticky fingers, then a new word, a round of Sticky fingers, a new word
etc. until you've gone through all

Activities:

Don’t let the fish falls down


Each student will be given a plate and an illustration of a fish, and a race will be organized, so,
first, five students will run from one wall to the other and they can not let the fish or the plate fall
down, if that happens they’ve to return and begin again.

What Doesn't Belong

Provide 4 pictures of ocean items and many unrelated (such as a bicycle). Ask which does not
belong. Bring a lot of pictures to play over and over.
Crab Walk

Children crawl like a crab from one point to another. After children have had some practice, have
them figure out a way to carry a bean bag while crawling like a crab.

Crazy Bus!
Put the children in a circle and have them sit down. You become a Crazy Bus using the F/C as a
steering wheel. Drive around stopping at each kid asking them to identify a Flash Card. Once
they say the card they form a train(bus) behind you. Everyone says “Lets Go”!!!!!!! Continue until
all the kids are in a train behind you and crash the bus. (Bradley)

Ask them simple questions or give them instructions, e.g. “Please name some colours."
Children take turns to name a colour each. If a child does not know the answer, or makes a
mistake (e.g. names a car as a colour), ask him to kneel down on one knee: “Go down on one
knee.”
If, in the next round he/she cannot give the right answer again, he/she kneels on both knees:
“Go down on two knees.”
Then, he/she must lean on one elbow: “Go down on one elbow” and then the other: “Go down
on both elbows.”

the students to open their eyes again. The first S to guess the missing flashcard can win that
flashcard (for 1 point) and take away a flashcard in the next round.

Slam:

put their hands on their heads. Teacher shouts out the word of one of the flashcards and the
students race to touch it. The S who touches it first get to keep the object. The S who has the
most flashcards at the end of the game is the winner.

The shark
Select a child who will be the shark. The shark must try to touch one of the other children. When
he succeeds, the child who was touched becomes the shark. Variation: The child who is touched
must stop moving and hold his arms out to his side. He can be saved if another child runs under
his stretched out arms. Several children can have their arms stretched out at the same time. You
will have to change sharks often since this activity is quite demanding for little sharks.

Blowing bubbles
Flashcards will be put on the wall, and teacher will call their names and say what animal they
have to blow, so, the teacher will give them foam for the bubbles.

Sticky fingers:
Now try the sticky fingers game. All the kids shout out "What can you see?" and you shout out "I

The trick is to do just one round of Sticky Fingers, then introduce the next word, "crab", again
with gestures.

Don’t let the fish falls down


Each student will be given a plate and an illustration of a fish, and a race will be organized, so,
first, five students will run from one wall to the other and they can not let the fish or the plate fall
down, if that happens they’ve to return and begin again.

What Doesn't Belong

Provide 4 pictures of ocean items and many unrelated (such as a bicycle). Ask which does not
belong. Bring a lot of pictures to play over and over.
Crab Walk

Children crawl like a crab from one point to another. After children have had some practice, have

Two (or more) teams. Students take turns throwing a soft die into a basket. If the die goes in, the
team scores 10 points; if not, the team receives the number of points on the die. Before the
students can throw their die, they must either identify a flashcard or perform a task assigned by
the instructor, such as ‘Jump’ or ‘Touch your nose’ or ‘Open the door,’ etc.

Fishing game:
Make or buy some fishing rods with magnets for hooks. Attach paper clips to the ends of cards

Activities:
Grandpa Is Deaf
Materials: Feeling Flashcards/Family Flash Cards, namely Grandpa.

Have them sit in a small group on the floor. Intro the cards in a terribly lacklustre manner. Show
them the grandpa card. Act like an old man, say "Eh? What?" and put your hand to your ear.
They will either laugh or think you are an idiot, either way make sure they know that grandpa is
deaf. If possible tape the card to your chest. Then, walk to the other end of the room. Shuffle the
cards. Show the top card, have them repeat it in the same no-spit-shine way. Then approach
one step, say "WHAT?" and put your hand to you ear. Do it again and again until you are right
up on them and they are literally screaming the FC name. Stumble back surprised. Hilarity
ensues.

Hide the cards


Count how many there are. Get kids to line up and lead them out of the classroom into the
corridor outside and sit them down. Explain that they have to be quiet and they have to count to
10. Whilst they do this, creep back into the classroom and hide the cards (but in very obvious
places) so that the kids can see part of them. Then walk back outside and lead the kids in again,
making a big show of the fact you have lost your baby. Look around the room and encourage
the kids to find the cards. When all have been found, elicit them all then count them up and
check you have the right amount. Rinse and repeat yeah.
