Activity Plan

Step 1: Evaluating the Needs and Goals of the Group.

1. What I observe about this group is…

Goals: The purpose of this group is to become better facilitators. This experience will help them
develop effective communication skills which are essential for facilitating groups.

Readiness: The group is ready and has the ability to attempt this experience.

Affect: This group is feeling more comfortable with each other, and for the most part shows
empathy and excitedness to be in the class.

Behavior: The group is acting agreeable. The group is more self-involved but is moving toward
being group involved. This group has a positive attitude and is very cooperative.

Body: The overall physical shape of the group is fairly well, ages range from about 18 years old
to 25 years old. They are appropriately dressed for a gym setting.

Stage: This group is at a norming stage. They listen to each other and appreciate each others skills
but need to be challenged with opportunities to better their communication skills.

Setting: The setting of this event is in a dance studio at 10:00 a.m. The fact that this class is early
may affect their energy levels.

2. Based upon what I observe, the needs, goals and desires of the group are to become better
facilitators and improve their communication skills as a group and as an individual.

Step 2: Planning Challenge Activities to Address Specific Needs and Goals.

1. Based upon the above, the appropriate experiences/activities are

● “Toilet Paper Talk” where the amount of squares is the amount of facts about themselves.
● “Cheerleader” Rock Paper Scissors Game to loosen the group up.
● “The Star” A game with a Rope to challenge their communication skills.
● “Escher Locking Lizard Game” Follow the rule given to them and communicate without
talking.
● “Spiderweb”ball of yarn game for active debrief.

2. As a facilitator, I would like the experiences/activities to have the following meaning for the
group…
I would like this experience to have a positive lasting effect on the groups overall ability to
communicate with each other effectively and to be able to take criticism in a constructive way for
the betterment of the group.
