Introduccion
.  Sentence structure.
Agreement between Colombia and theunited states, approved on October 10.2011
and launched since may 15,2012 with objectives to maintain the economy
between the two countries in terms of imports and exports.

In February 2006, the Free Trade Agreement between Colombia and the United
States was sold after 21 months of meetings between the parties. Although both
governments approved the agreement, the final approval to enter into force depends
on the Congresses of both countries and that of the United States has not yet
reached a decision.

The objective of this FTA is the insertion of Colombia into the US market with bilateral
relations that promote economic and commercial interests, and will encourage
investment. In general, it seeks to provide investors with a more stable business
environment and ensure that the agreements are favorable for the provision of goods
and services and encourage their export

The TLC, is an agreement signed between Colombia and the United States where
marketing freedoms are proposed between the two sides, giving their primary
productions a substantial protection against the strong economic factors of
commercialization in each country.

This treaty has been discussing its approval several years ago but in 2006 the
dialogues between the two countries began to try to agree on the conditions of
both parties, it is since then that assemblies and meetings between the leaders of
each nation have been held to discuss and agree on changes in the positions
stated at the beginning. After more than 5 years conducting dialogues and reforms
to the initial treaty, the signature between the parties is achieved on October 12,
2012.

With the approval of the treaty a free trade between the two nations allowing
importation and exportation with easier access between Colombia and the United
States.
And the question that has been asked since the beginning of the dialogues rises
again, is this Colombia prepared for a free market with a comedic power is the
United States? we already have free trade agreements with other countries but
they are limited extended to key points, but nothing similar to the fta, for the small
economists in our country in an imminent threat where they expect losses of their
capitals in a large simarity to the commercialized by them from our allied country
EE.UU a unbalanced competition as it could not competiate with the prices
proposed by foreign traders.

what you look for with these agreements is to facilitate the lives of people allowing
that employment is generated and at a time to generate a great income to the
goods, if we talk economic entrepreneurs, between more entertainment of goods
there is a less than one the price of this, which allows more people to have easy to
acquire it

advantage

- The FTA creates a long-term regulatory framework, thus promoting national and foreign
investment in Colombia. The FTA is a permanent instrument that unlike the ATPDEA does
not require periodic renewals and therefore provides stability and predictability in the rules
of the game of trade in goods and services between the two countries.

The agricultural sector will benefit from greater access to the US market, not only by the
permanent elimination of tariffs but also by the establishment of clear rules of sanitary and
phytosanitary matters to support real access for our agricultural and agroindustrial
production. USA He pledged to give timely attention to Colombian requests, to take into
account the technical evaluations made in our country and to provide technical cooperation
to put our systems at the level required to have real access to their market.

The FTA guarantees greater access of the Colombian productive apparatus to the
acquisition of capital goods, mainly machinery and equipment imported from the United
States by the immediate elimination of the vast majority of tariffs (between 5% and 20%).
The effect will be an increase in competitiveness for the entire national industrial and
agricultural production apparatus and a special benefit for SMEs.
-Azúcar: This is one of the products with the greatest offensive potential in Colombia and
with the greatest protection in the US. The FTA will significantly increase the Colombian
export quota This quota includes some industrial products with sugar content that are part
of the productive transformation program

Other products benefited: The Colombian meat sector will also benefit from greater real
access to the United States market as well as the fruit and vegetable sector that has shown
great potential in other agreements with Latin American countries

Disadvantages
These disadvantages basically consist in the fact that due to the technological advancement
of the United States, in addition to its strong political influence, Colombia signed a treaty to
some extent disadvantageous, because we do not have enough tools to compete in
commercial terms with the US power, says the study.

There are sectors included in the FTA that cannot compete with the United States,
especially in agricultural matters, such as dairy, poultry farmers, as well as corn and rice
producers, for example, says Professor Aldana.

In turn, technological development is perhaps the most advantageous point for the colossus
of the North, since Colombia does not have enough industrial infrastructure to compete
with products originating there. Hence the affectation of agriculture, since there occurs on a
larger scale, with more technology and that makes these products to be cheaper here.

In relation to the agricultural sector, the research suggests that urgent measures should be
taken to prepare small producers against international competition; otherwise, the crisis in
the sector will be gradually exacerbated as the relief of sensitive products, such as those
already mentioned, takes place, thereby increasing the damages for peasant families.
