Adopt a Family
Because of our congregation's
generosity last year, Grant County
Social Services has invited us to
participate again this year.
I suggested that this year we could
spread out our gifts between 2 or 3
families due to our amazing level of
participation last year.
As donations need to be delivered
already by December 9, we will be
putting up our tree before Thanksgiving to give those who wish to
participate a few weeks to shop. If you have questions contact
Jennifer McLaughlin at 320-815-8903.

Pastor Eliza led us in Devotions followed by her report which included:

VBS was great, lead with Music and opening with Bible lessons and direction.
Family table and new ministries meeting was at the end of August. It is hoped to not be only a project group.
Starting with the Breakfast Club on Friday, Oct 4th before school. The Service time has changed back to 10:30
and we are starting with the Narrative Lecture and our first bible study on Sunday during the 9:15 education
hour.
Confirmation meeting will be on Thursday night to meet and discuss the expectations for confirmands and
their families. .
Worship and communion provided at the BCC, two funerals and a wedding completed in August.
The meet and greets were finished up in August with a BBQ party in the park. All were very well received. We
will look into continuing them in the future.

Amendments to the previous month Sec report needs to be made. In the New Business under policy project,
it should read: Jon will look into making or supplying a video that meet our needs for safety training for Safe
Church Practices. We are also looking into the necessity of having two signatures on the check to protect the
Treasurer. And we want to institute having two people counting the offering weekly. We hope to have these
practices in place around Jan 2020.The motion to approve with the listed amendments was made by Kim, se-
conded by Jon, to approve the secretary’s report. MCU

A motion was made by Terry, seconded by Bob, to approve the transaction report. MCU
A motion was made by Jon, seconded by Bob, to approve the treasurer’s report. MCU

Goal discussion was very good. We discussed as leaders in Peace how we would like to see growth in areas
with: Worship, Relating to each other, Learning and exploring faith stories and Service. We feel we have made
large strides already in these areas with Safe policy projects and confirmation, but want to keep the momen-
tum.

Old Business:
~Eric Risbrudt is checking the defibrillator, Jon has sent him pictures of what we have and will keep us
posted.
~Brittany Wing will be looking into our website in November.
We have decided after discussion with Congregation members to sell the bus. A motion was made by Jon, 2 nd
by Kim, MCU. We are looking into a couple of options to do so.
There has been no further meetings or changes made to the policy project from last month.

New Business:
A request from Bob Shervey to use the church on Sept. 28st for a family reunion was accepted and approved.
Peace Council will be serving the lunch for Rally Sunday on Sept 8 th after service, outdoors weather provided.
Todd will get the grill and burgers, Gaylene the buns and Kim the rest from Walmart.
There is a workshop that spans over the course of three Saturdays from Sept to Jan for generous congrega-
tion (stewardship). We are going to pass on involvement in this for this year because it is felt that we are al-
ready implementing a lot for this year.
We will start budget planning in Oct for 2020.

Motion made by Kim, seconded by Jon, to adjourn at 8:04. MCU

Submitted by Kim Lang, Acting Secretary

PARTNERS IN MINISTRY
You may have seen these words floating around our bulletins or coming out of my mouth over the past
few months. What is a Partner in Ministry, exactly? On November 10 and November 17 during the 9:15
education hour, I invite all persons and families who are interested in becoming a partner in our ministry here at
Peace, to join me for a time of orientation and discussion. This may be similar to a church membership class you
have attended in the past. I think that language is important, hence the new terminology. When I was serving in
my last church one of the pastors would say, “Being a member is easy, but living your life for Jesus is hard” His
meaning was this, to be a member is as easy as putting your name on a list, checking a box and calling this church
your own. To be a follower of Jesus, to be a partner in his ministry is a step that active, it is vulnerable, and it adds
something to your already busy life. But to be a follower of Jesus, to be a partner in this ministry, also has the pow-
er to change your life and, with your help, change the lives of others. I am so excited to see how God is calling us
to grow into the future. I hope that you will join us in that growth.
GRATITUDE & GENEROSITY
November 1 is the gateway to the holiday season. Once
we’ve all come down from our Halloween sugar high, we begin to
look toward the end of the year. During these seasons that have be-
come increasingly commercialized, I appreciate all of the reminders
to slow down, practice gratitude to God and to others, and to con-
nect with those dearest to me. In this season, we, as your church
leaders, are also looking toward the new year. 2020 is on the hori-
zon and there are a few ways that Peace is offering for you to show
your gratitude to God through your generosity.
A congregation can only do the work it is called into with
the support of its people. The gifts of your presence, your time, and your money make an incredible impact on our
congregation and our community. Take some time this month to pray and consider how God is calling you to par-
ticipate generously in God’s ministry through Peace Lutheran. Talk about it with your friends and loved ones. Ask
me questions. There will be a Time & Talent Inventory outside of the sanctuary that you are encouraged to fill out
and return to the office. This is a way for us to understand your gifts and the areas in which you wish to serve. Ad-
ditionally, I encourage you to prayerfully consider giving financially to this ministry as a practice of giving back to
God. When we give of ourselves and our possessions generously, we are getting the smallest glimpse of God’s love
in action. I am grateful for God’s work through this congregation and grateful for each of you who commit to be a
part of it.
A MESSAGE FROM OUR TREASURER – TAMI WEIGEL
Tis the season of giving...online giving! Our family
recently made the switch to using automated giving. We
want to continue to make it a priority to contribute
financially to the church we love and in return, the
community we love, so that our children and area youth
have the opportunity to grow in their faith. With a young
child and a busy travel season, we know we’ll be
missing several upcoming church services. With
automated giving, you can set up an amount to be given
at a frequency of your choosing and won’t have to bother
with having cash or a check every Sunday. You can also
download the Give+ app on your phone and enjoy the
convenience of giving anytime, anywhere. It has never
been easier to contribute financially and we love that we
can do that even if we’re not in church on Sunday. We
know there are a lot of choices where you can give your
money and we appreciate that you choose to support
Peace Lutheran financially. Please contact Tami or
Pastor Eliza with any questions about the app or
automated giving form.
