La película trata las cruzadas fueron sucesivas expediciones militares orientadas a liberar tierra
santa del control musulman el objetivo consistía en restituir la autoridad apostólica romana en el
territorio donde se desarrollaron los episodios relatados en la biblia el lugar más importante era
sin duda Jerusalén famoso lugar de peregrinación para los cristianos más devotos.

Para el papa quien viajara a Jerusalén para liberar a la iglesia por piedad y no para conseguir
riquezas obtendría el perdón de sus pecados.

En el siglo 12, Europa entera está inmersa en las Cruzadas para recuperar la Tierra Santa.
Godofredo de Ibelin, caballero respetado por el rey de Jerusalén y comprometido con el
mantenimiento de la paz en la región, emprende la búsqueda de su hijo ilegítimo, Balian, joven
herrero francés. Godofredo convence a su hijo para que lo acompañe en su misión. Tras la
muerte de su padre, Balian hereda sus tierras y su título de caballero en Jerusalén, ciudad en
la que cristianos, musulmanes y judíos han conseguido convivir pacíficamente durante la
tregua de paz entre la Segunda y la Tercera Cruzada. Con una fidelidad inquebrantable,
Balian sirve a su rey y, además, emprende una feroz batalla para proteger a su pueblo de las
tropas musulmanas que quieren apoderarse de Jerusalén.

es una de las mejores películas de las cruzadas y una de mis favoritas
