In this svstem. the low frequency speaker and high
frequency driver are connected through the crossover
networkto a receiveror amplifier.
Choke L1 passesfrequenciesbelow 800 Hz to the speaker
and attenuatesthose above800 Hz. CapacitorsC1 and C2
are connectedacrossthe voice coil of the speakerand
pr ov ideaddit io n afil l te ri n go f h i g hfre q u e n c i es.
CapacitorC3 passesfrequenciesabove800 Hz to the high
frequencydriver and attenuatesthesebelow800 Hz. Chol<e
L2 providesadditionalf ilteringof the lowerfrequencies.

With this system,an electroniccrossovernetwork and two
power amplifiersare used. The low frequency speakeris
connecteddirectly to the low frequencypower amplifier
while the high frequencydriver is connectedthrough the
speakersystem crossovernetwork to the high frequency
power amplifier.With the driver connectedin this fashion,
the levelcontrol can still be usedto vary the output level.
Choke L2 is usedasa high passfilter and protectsthe driver
from any low frequencytransientswhich may occur when
the amplifiersystemis first turnedon.
