Pre-Assessment: I realized I should have had a better way to ask about the beginning sounds on
the assessment, and that I really should have formatted the quiz differently. The assessment
was really fast and easy, which was helpful because we didn’t have much time to administer it.
Mrs. Kinghorn helped administer some of the assessments, which was great because we were
really short on time, but I don’t know how those students did.

Post- Assessment
I really enjoyed giving the post-assessment. For the pre-assessment, Mrs. Kinghorn helped do a few since
we didn’t have time to only do one student at a time, and I feel like I missed out on a lot. After doing this
post-assessment, I feel like I have so much of a better idea of where the class is as a whole, and how
individual students are doing. I really enjoy the one-on-one interactions with the students; I like them so
much more when it’s just us and we can talk, versus when they are all sitting together and distracting each
other. I feel like one-on-one interactions are so important for this reason- it reminds you that you really do
like the students as individuals, even when they are difficult as a group on the carpet. So overall, I learned
about the importance of one-on-one interaction, and doing your pre and post assessments yourself, so you
don’t only know what they got on it, but if they struggled, or guessed, or got it all really quickly. This
information could have been helpful in picking instructional groups, or even for planning instructional
activities. Also giving the pre and post assessment made me realize how poorly I made my assessment.
What I should have done, was practice it with my kindergarten age nephew to see what went well and what
I should change. I thought it was a pretty straight forward assessment, but giving it, I realized the
assessment could have been more helpful if I would have made some changes.
