The following are general deficiencies found in S&T works which are called
PENDING WORKS. If care and strictness is shown at the time of execution Most of
them can be avoided
THUMB RULE NO TARWAATA/AFTERWARDS/BAAD MAI
1.Placement of Cable Markers along with Closing of Trench. For that it is to be
ensured that Cable Markers are prepared in advance
2.Painting of Cable Markers after Erection
3.Provision of Earth Enclosures at the time of Earthing (to be ensured that Earth
Enclosures are prepared in advance)
4.Inside White Painting in Boxes Signal Units, Shunts, Routes, Point Box etc. It
should be ensured that these materials are not lifted from EA stores without inside
Painting
5.Broken Locking Hooks of Signal, Shunt, Route units. It should be ensured that
such units are not lifted from EA stores without attending at Store
6.Defecting E-Type locking or any other defect in Location Boxes to be attended at
EA stores
7.Provision of full complement of Flat Spring washers Nuts at the time of erection of
Boxes and Signal Units Ladders
8.GI Flat Earthing arrangement in L Boxes to have complete items Flat Spring
washers and Nuts and bolts for all holes
9.Twisting of Quad/PIJF Cables before Termination
10.Proper application of Varnish on Teakwood Planks/Reapers before Fixing in
Boxes
11.Proper Black Painting of Hardwood Planks before Fixing in Boxes
12.Use of Eyelet/Lugs with soldering/Crimping in Location boxes for termination
/wiring of all Silk wires , Power Cables
13.Fuse Holders: Ensure proper tightening of wire termination. Check by pulling
upward
14.Fixing/Beeding of Chokes, Chargers, Batteries in Boxes
15.Fixing of Stay Rods for Rows having silk wire and quad cable termination for
support
16.Earth Enclosures to be Half Buried in ground by digging and not just kept on the
ground
17.Proper Coiling of spare length of cables behind the boxes by making a Pit
18.Fixing Wiring of Lamp Holders in Boxes
19.Implantation for Signals, Boxes and Earth Value measurements on Boxes and
Enclosures can be taken up as simultaneous activity
20.Use of Green wire only for earthing connections to equipment’s in Boxes
21.Ensure use of Good Quality Galvanised Nuts, Bolts, Washers wherever used for
Earth Connections.
22. Ensure that proper CURING is done for concreting wherever it be Foundations,
Trench concrete or anywhere else
23. Perforation (holes) of GI pipes to be done at stores itself, after perforation only
