Lesson Exemplar in General Mathematics for Grade 11

Content: Introduction to Rational Function; Rational Function; Rational Equation;

Rational Inequality; Review of solving equations and inequalities.

Learning Competencies: distinguishes rational function, rational equation and rational

inequality (M11GM-Ib-2)
: solves rational equations and an inequalities

I. Objectives:
1. Compare rational function, rational equation and rational inequality
2. Represent real-life situations using rational equation, rational function and
rational inequality.
3. Evaluate rational function, rational equation and rational inequality and make
a review of equations and inequalities for they are relevant in solving for them
individually.
4. Use the techniques in solving rational function, rational equation and rational
inequality and in solving equations and inequality.

II. Subject Matter

B. Priming Activity: Let the student define the importance of equations and
inequalities. Define its relevance in the field of rational function, rational equation
and rational inequality.
C. Lesson Proper
a. Activity: Discuss certain terminologies relating to rational function, rational
fraction and rational inequality in the field of equations and inequalities.

b. Analysis: Specify its function or purpose for a particular equation or

inequality. Specify its relevance in evaluating rational function, rational
equation and rational inequality.

c. Abstraction: Perform all operations for a given equation or inequality. .

Afterwards; use this value in order to derive the rational function, equation
or inequality .
d. Application: Evaluate the importance of equations and inequalities in
certain topics in all fields of Mathematics and specify its importance on
rational function, rational equation and rational inequality.

D. Assessment:
Direction: Find the value of x for each equation or inequality.
