Confirmation Preparation

 Attendance at weekly Mass on Saturday or Sunday morning.

All families are encouraged to worship together. Each Candidate should fill out 15
Sunday Mass Reflection Sheets over the course of the RE year (September – May) .
Below is a schedule of weekend and holy day masses at Corpus Christi Church:
Saturday evening: 5:00 p.m.
Sunday: 7:00 a.m., 9:00a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
 Enrolled in Religious Education Program for the 7th and 8th grade. The Confirmation
Program at Corpus Christi Church is for two years.

 Weekly attendance of Religious Education classes with no more then two

unexcused absents.
 Two Service Projects per year = Four Total
 Completion of Confirmation Name Report by March 1, 2011
 Completion of the Sponsor Report and Sponsor Verification forms by March 1, 2011
 Letter written to the Bishop from the Candidates
 Two Retreats - Year One and Year Two
 Proof of Baptism - copy of certificate if not baptized at Corpus Christi
 Assessed for readiness to celebrate the sacrament
 Confirmation Practice attended by Candidates and parents/sponsors.

A sponsor is a witness to the commitment to Christ, which you will be

proclaiming at Confirmation. Your sponsor will present you to the Bishop
and will be by your side while you are anointed with Christ. Your sponsor
needs to have received all three Catholic Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism,
First Communion and Confirmation). In addition, your sponsor must be
an active and registered member of their Catholic parish. A
sponsor can be any relative or friend (excluding parents) that is
actively participating in their Catholic faith and living as a disciple
of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Please send your sponsor the attached

Pastor.

As you prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation, you need

to think about a Confirmation name. When you are anointed
by the Bishop, you will state your Confirmation name. You
need to choose the name of a Catholic saint. Your choices
are endless and so are the heroic stories behind all 10,000
plus Saints that are currently on record! You may use the
Saint name given to you at birth, a relative’s name, a Saint
that interests you or even the Saint Feast day that is on your
birthday.

There is so much you can learn from our Catholic Saints!

Saints cared for other people but certainly were not perfect.
They were subject to doubt, fear and losing their way.
Sound familiar? These are stories of what real people chose
to do as disciples of our Lord, Jesus Christ. The lives of all the
Saints demonstrate to us that anyone can be a Saint, any
place, any time.

There are Saint books at the library for you to use. We

even have some in the resources center you can borrow and
there are plenty of websites like the ones listed below:

Once you are done researching, please write a short

report about the name that you have chosen for
Confirmation. Include a short biography, why the Saint is
important to you and how you can use their example to be a
disciple of Jesus today. You may use the other side to write
your report or submit a typed copy. Once completed, please
return to the Youth Ministry Office.
