Competency: Use the cases of pronouns correctly. (EN10G-III-A31)


Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. Identify the pronoun in the sentence;
b. Complete the sentences with the correct pronoun;
c. Appreciate the importance of pronoun in constructing sentence.

B. Development of the Lesson

MOTIVATION
The teacher will let the students read the paragraph
 “When Susie arrived at the party, Susie knew Susie had made a mistake.
Susie saw that Susie did not fit in with Susie’s new friends. Susie
wondered if Susie should leave, or if Susie should just act like it was
normal for Susie to be involved in such activities. Drinking and smoking
were not things in which Susie normally participated. Susie decided
Susie was not going to allow Susie to behave in such a ridiculous
manner”

ACTIVITY
 The teacher will asked the students to read an excerpt of the story “A Day in a
Country”, then do the activity entitled “Cases of Pronouns”

ANALYSIS

 Why do we need pronoun?


 Why do we need to replace pronoun into a noun?
 What purpose does a pronoun serve?

ABSTRACTION
 The teacher will discuss the chart on the module that illustrates additional samples of
personal pronouns in different cases.
 Nouns and pronouns in English are said to display case according to their
function in the sentence. They can be subjective or nominative (which means
they act as the subject of independent or dependent clauses), possessive
(which means they show possession of something else), or objective (which
means they function as the recipient of action or are the object of a
preposition).

APPLICATION
 The teacher will instruct the students to form three groups.
 With the use of pronouns, the Group 1 will have role playing, Group 2 will have the news
casting/broadcasting, Group 3 will present through singing.
 Each group are given 5 minutes to do the activity.
EVALUATION
 Complete the paragraph below using the correct pronoun.
James and Mary were siblings. One day _____ returned from school. ______ were
very hungry and went straight to the kitchen. ____ wanted to eat something. In the
kitchen ____ saw a cat. It drinking the milk mother had kept for ____. James ran out
