WRITING AND PUBLISHING A RESEARCH PAPER IN AN INTERNATIONAL


JOURNAL : A DREAM OR A GOAL

 Begin to think and then write a study (hypothesis) so that later you can do research then
the results of the research can be written in the form of a journal
 Assist as a student when we will conduct research for our thesis.
 Writing need a lot of commitment and time.
 Writing is not only to complete the graduation.
 There is no short cut or excuse : good researchers are expected to publish in good journals
(de Souza, 2010).
 When you want to be a lecturer or researcher, don’t forget to publish your writing because
publish is very important.
 Scientific writing is the transmission of a clear signal to a recipient (Day, 1988).
 Do research, to propose something in our mind and share it with others, it is necessary to
write down what is in our minds, can be in the journals, theses, etc.
 For those who are used to it, writing is easy.
 For those who just want to start, writing is a difficult thing. Then it needs a lot of practice.
 Reading other sources / journals can add insight and help develop ideas.
 Experience : one semester course on how to write and publish a scientific paper, reading
technical books on publications, name of journal for previous publications : Journal of
Entomology, etc.
 Paradigm “opo iyo” : always try to write
 Publication is to public our paper / journal, it’s can read by other people and be able to
help to solve the problem.
 We need to improve our communication skill.
 It’s time to get out from your comfort zone, show the world who you really are and what
you are really made of.
 We must know the rules of the game.
 Know how to write a journal and publish that journal.
 Most students have quite a lot of thoughts and abilities, but it is sometimes difficult to
share them with others.
 Preparation to presentation :
 Psychological : set our goal and translate our goal into a positive energy, beat our
own fear and build up our self confidence, be prepared to work differently from the
routines, be aware that it takes an extra energy, and disciplines.
 Keep in mind : make yourself proud, make the editors and reviewers happy, and
flawless.
 In action : keep our spirit on fire.
 Need to upgrading the references.
 Searching the suitable journal.
 Understanding “instruction to the authors”.
 Where to start? : wherever you feel comfortable, building the happiness feeling, and stay
focus.
 What we need? : commitment, self confidence, investment.
 Write what we want to do.
 Do what we write.
