 Chapter 1

INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

As of 1 January 2019, the total chicken inventory was

estimated at 186.37 million birds. Itwent up by 6.03 percent

compared with the previous year’s record of175.77

All the threetypes ofchicken exhibited increases in inventorieswith

layer chickenrecording the highest at 9.12 percent. Broiler and

native/improved chicken had respective growths of 7.20 percent

and 3.79 percent. In 2018, chicken production at 1.84 million

metric tons, liveweight grew by 5.20 percent relative to

itsprevious year’s output of1.75 million metric tons, liveweight.

Likewise, chicken egg production at 533.91 thousand metric tons

grew by 8.43 percent compared with the 2017 production of

492.41 thousand metric tons. (LISA GRACES. BERSALES , 2019)

The farmgate price of broiler chicken in commercial farms at

PhP84.79 per kilogram, liveweight went up by 4.09 percentfrom its

price level in 2017 of PhP81.46 per kilogram, liveweight. (Table

15)The farmgate price of chicken egg atPhP4.48 per piece

declined by 4.24 percent relative to its previous year’s average price

of PhP4.68 per piece(LISA GRACES. BERSALES , 2019)

The conceptual framework (figure 1.1) was utilized by the developer to

demonstrate the procedure of the propose system. The Conceptual model demonstrate

the procedure of every individual user that will use the proposed system. If the user will

sign up in the system there are some question to be answer as a requirement same on

the owner and they need to provide at least a 2 valid id`s for security purposes . If the

user is successfully registered, they can buy or sell the product they have. The system

will both notify the users and owner if their transaction is ok and if it`s not. The system
will have a sub-system that can monitor the health of the pigs and chickens to help the

owners to segregate the sick one and not to sell by the owner. The Conceptual

Framework of the “WEB BASE SYSTEM OF SELLING AND HEALTH MONITORING

FOR LIVESTOCK " will be done first by using an analytical tool to produce a good

prediction outcome through preprocessing the data accumulated using data cleaning to

remove outlier and noise into the data and furthermore utilizing data transformation

depend on the particulars required for the data and for the system. At that point after

the preprocessing stage every one of the data will be randomized at that point split into

training and testing data.

 Statement of Objectives

Goal:

To help the livestock herders to sell out the livestock that they have to reduce

transaction cost and increase market efficiency and that can provide today’s market

price.

General Objective:

To design, develop and test Mobile Application system of selling for livestock

that will offer features that will enable to help the hog herder and poultry caretaker to

sell out the livestock that they have.

Specific Objectives:

 To design a web-based interface that is user-friendly or easy to understand.

 To develop a main system that stores and processes data.
 To develop a subsystem for selling online for livestock.
 To develop a submodule that will predict the possible market price for livestock.
 To develop a predictive model that we can use base on the data given.
 To test and implement the developed system (Alpha and Beta).

Significance of the study

 The results of this study will contribute greatly to the benefit of society

especially to the hog’s herder, poultry caretaker and costumers considering that

information technology plays a vital role in modernized life nowadays. This

study will help the livestock owner`s to sellout the livestock they have.

Scope and Limitation

The scope of this study is to create a Mobile Application system that can

help the hog`s herder to monito. Our users will provide a valid id`s for registration

for not to bogus the owner and buyer. The proposed mobile application system will

be used mobile and web. This system can be accessed in mobile and our

prediction will be displayed in web application. This system will cannot be accessed

without connecting to internet. We are focusing on hogs and chicken on Antipolo,

Rizal.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

Livestock Health Advisory System

Livestock Health Advisory System is an android based mobile app that brings

together information that farmers require for their livestock. The app includes features

such as: common diseases and uncommon diseases and how to combat them, area

locality news, a news forum for the farmers, common pests and pestisides among

Livestock Manager

Livestock Manager is designed for the commercial livestock enterprises that

need detailed livestock management records. Its made for Cattle, Horses, Sheep,

It is flexible to handle multiple identifications while tracking treatments, pedigree, animal

Historical information for each animal is easy to find. Notes can be added to keep you

organized while reports can be customized for viewing animal and herd performance.

With Livestock Manager, a farmer can record and keep track of their Livestock from

birth all the way to sale. It captures all animal events as well as keep track of the most

Features like Paddock, Farm Map and Mob Manager allow farmers to move animals

from one location to another and track the movement history. The system helps one to

The Feed Manager allows farm managers to have a feeding plan and easily track the

amount of food consumed by each animal. Farmers can formulate feeds, generate and

print out feed formulations, calculate the cost of feed that is being consumed by each

animal, enabling a farmer make an informed decision in the operation of his farm.

Organic Livestock Farming

 Organic livestock production is an emerging alternative to the intensive

conventional livestock production systems, which is based on the development of

harmonious relationship among soil, plants, animals and humans. The demand for

information is growing world over, for methods and practices of organic farming

including organic livestock production. This android mobile application, thus, has been

developed by the scientists of ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute Izatnagar to

cater to this growing information need of stakeholders at different levels. This

application provide the information on Organic Farming System in general and organic

livestock production in particular which include characteristics of Ideal organic Farm

and requirements of Feeding, Breeds & Breeding, Health Care, Record Keeping,

managemental Practices, Animal Welfare, Organic Livestock production in relation to

Public Health, Certification & certification Standards, Organic Agriculture Scenario in

India and steps involved in setting up of a Livestock Dairy Farm. This application will

work for android API version 15 to 27 i.e. it can work properly for Android Jelly Bean

Poultry farming disrupts the family unit among chickens, denies these animals their
needs for social interactions and good nutrition, and otherwise forces them into cruel

This is all because people can’t get enough eggs, fried chicken, baked chicken, chicken

casserole, and chicken salad. If we all gave up those foods and replaced them with

plant-based substitutes, these chickens wouldn’t have to face the cruel realities of

Poultry farming refers specifically to the breeding, raising, and slaughtering of chickens

to collect their eggs or harvest their meat. Even layer hens the chickens used for the

egg industry face impossibly uncomfortable conditions and an early death.

In the poultry farming industry, disease runs rampant and chickens are regularly

abused. Just recently, animal rights group Compassion Over Killing sent a member

undercover at a Maryland poultry farming operation. The employee caught raw, graphic

METHODOLOGY

P (Plan) – In this stage the first step is to go to initial planning to arrange the

specification documents, to provide to figure out what are the parameters required as

contribution for the framework to yield the right outcome, to gather and important

information, and to get ready for the consequent phases of the cycle.

D (Design) – Once the Plan stage is done the design stage also occurs at this

stage, establishing any technical requirements (languages, data layers, services, etc)

that will be utilized in order to accommodate the demands of the analysis stage.

C (Check) – In this stage once the present build iteration has been coded and

carried out, the next step for the proponents is to go through a sequence of checking

process to classify and detect any possible bugs or issues that have surfaced and to

check whether all criteria have been met.

 A (Adjust) – in this stage the researcher evaluates the entire strategy of the

accentuation from the underlying advance. It essentially tackles any redesigns that are

gathered in past cycles. New issues are recognized close by their causes. Before the

gathering starts the accompanying cycle once more, researcher accumulation is refined

for future reference.

Data Collection - The developer identifies and gathers data resources,

structured, unstructured and semi-structured that are relevant to the problem

domain. On encountering gaps in data collection, the developer might need to

revise the data requirements and collect more data.

Data Cleansing – the developer removes the noise or outlier in the data

and strategies for handling missing data and accounting for time sequence

information and know the changes of the data.

Data Transformation - the process of converting data or information from

one format to another, usually from the format of a source system into the

required format of a new destination system.

Predictor Model Identification – in this process the developer selecting

methods to be use for searching patterns in data and deciding which models and

parameters may be appropriate in the data that developer clean.

 Prediction Model Validation – this technique for assessing the result of

a statistical analysis or model will generate to an independent data and estimate

how accuracy a predictive model will be perform in training.

Knowledge – is refer to the overall performance of the data prediction of

discovering useful knowledge from data it involves It includes the assessment

and perhaps translation of the examples to settle on the choice of what qualifies

as knowledge.

Sources of Data

The main source of data for the researchers is collected surveys and

records for references in order to produce an indefinable result. Researchers

have used some scholarly articles, online publications, online research

papers, books, reference books and encyclopedias and journals in the library.

Academic research carried out by independent students who also have the

same subject matter. Written works in different forms but related to the same

kind of area of research currently focused on. Collection of information from

several papers in order to create a new research paper in the same study

area. The PSA (Philippine Statistics Authority) .

Instrumentation and Data Collection

Statistical Records - These are documents or forms, containing the items of

information concerning an individual vital event or number of vital events of

the same type, filled in at the time of registration, to meet the needs of vital

statistics compilation. These can be used for data analytics.

Literature Search - The methodical investigation of all published sources for

information that helps in formulating a research question and planning the

study.

Case Study - This is a process or record of research in which detailed

consideration is given to the development of particular instances of something

used or analyzed in order to illustrate a thesis or principle over a period of time.

Focus Group - This is the demographically diverse group of people

assembled to participate in a guided discussion about a particular product or

research before it is launched.

Evaluation Tool

The proponents proposed to let the target users test the Sample

Program of the proposed system. After that, Surveys in a form of Pre, Post

and Follow-up Evaluation in order to learn how effective the system is,

whether the system meets the objectives for the targeted users, and whether

the targeted users will recommend using it or not.

Observations will be done also during the development stages,

evaluating whether the steps where done according to the study.
