Time Context
 The time context in this case study is based on the length of existence of
ABC Corporation since its establishment. To be specific, it is the 6 th years
of ABC Corporation in manufacturing electronic components for
automobiles.
II. Viewpoint
 The viewpoint is taken from the operations manager, acting as the
department head of ABC Corporation’s operations. Hence, he is the one
responsible in monitoring, particularly in the firm’s needs about certain
technological increase, innovations or advancements.
III. Statement of the Problem
 The ABC Corporation needs their employees to acquire or learn particular
skills and knowledge because of the increase in technology. It will give
them the ability to attend the demand for new products of local and foreign
customers. However, the two ideas proposed to get the training needed
will somehow cause different problems. First, sending supervisors and
managers in Japan might cause mismanagement in their respective
departments. Second, inviting a representative from the mother company,
in Japan, will only double the cost of the first option as opposed by the
vice president in finance.
IV. Objectives
 Must or Short Range Objective
 The employees required to be trained will be able to acquire
the training they need in order for them to perform the
tasks/operations properly. In fact, it will also give them the ability to
attend the local and foreign customers’ demand for new products.
 Want or Long Range Objective
 Employees among the production department are all
equipped and skilled to effectively perform with the increase in
technology.
 ABC Corporation will be able to cope up with the demand for
new products both from local and foreign customers. It can
significantly increase their output thus their income as well.

customers.

VI. Alternative Courses of Action

 Send all the number of supervisors and managers as suggest by the HR
Manager to the mother company in order for them to get the training they
need about the increase in technology.
 Advantages
 There will be an interactive type of training wherein they can
easily ask and raise all their questions and confusions.
 They have the chance to learn everything they need by
personally demonstrating it to them.
 Disadvantages
 On the basis of cost-cutting by the vice president of finance,
it is costly considering the travel and other additional
expenses.
 There is a possibility of mismanagement in the respective
departments of the supervisors and managers sent to Japan
for training.
 Some of the supervisors and managers sent to Japan for
training may not be able or may not be good in
disseminating the information they learned to ABC
Corporation’s employees.
 Consider the suggestion of the vice president for finance and the
operations manager which is to invite the technicians from the mother
company to facilitate the training in the local company.
 Advantages
 The time of acquiring the skills needed by the employees as
to the increase in technology could be less than 2 months.
 There will be an interactive type of training wherein they can
easily ask and raise all their questions and confusions.
 All of the employees will have the chance to learn everything
they need by personally demonstrating it to them.
 Disadvantages
 The cost of training conducted by the mother company in the
local company is twice as expensive as sending the
employees of the ABC Corporation to Japan.
 The local company will have to pay the training conducted by
the mother company and they should also pay higher
allowances and salaries to its technicians.
 The assurance of gaining an income which could cover the
costs incurred in the training conducted by the mother
company is not a hundred percent possible.
 Only send the operations manager with his four other subordinate
managers in the same department to Japan for training. They should also
request and be given an audiovisual presentation version of the conducted
training by the mother company. They can use it to effectively disseminate
the all the things they’ve learned in the as to the increase in technology.
 Advantages
 The cost of training would be less than sending all the
supervisors and managers suggested by the HR Manager.
 The possibility of the occurrence of mismanagement in the
respective departments of supervisors and managers could
be reduced.
 The cost of conducting an audiovisual training is the
cheapest way of educating and updating the whole ABC
Corporation to such increase in technology.
 Audiovisual presentation kind of training is effective for
training across multiple locations and saves money at the
same time.
 Utilizing the audiovisual presentation in facilitating the
training in the local company will serve as their guide to
effectively and fully disseminate the information which is the
essence of the training they attended in the mother
company.
 Disadvantages
 The number of suggested supervisors and managers by the
HR Manager might be the least and most possible number in
order for them to acquire what the employees need.
 It could still be costly if the vice president for finance will look
into this since the supervisors and managers, subjects for
training, will stay in Japan for a couple of months.
 Using the audiovisual presentation in the local company may
take more time and work for the employees to fully acquire
the knowledge and skills in which the training intends to
provide.
VII. Recommendation
 Only send the operations manager with his four other subordinate
managers in the same department to Japan for training. They should also
request and be given an audiovisual presentation version of the conducted
training by the mother company. They can use it to effectively disseminate
the all the things they’ve learned as to the increase in technology.
