Science Sizzle

Course Outline: Ms. Tkach

Calling all Scientists! The Science Sizzle option is a hands- on science option that
includes a variety of scientific experiments and processes. This option will incorporate
various areas of science, allowing students to demonstrate the scientific process and
the skills needed to complete research.

Course Elements
 Safety: Students will learn about and demonstrate safe practices in
science.
 Scientific Method: Students will understand and apply the scientific
method and appropriate processes in research. By doing this, students
are fostering the skills and attitudes needed in science.
 Science Knowledge and Understandings: Through a variety of hands-on
experiments and activities, students will learn the principals behind the
scientific phenomena examined in this class.
 Cooperation and Collaboration: In science, teamwork is crucial. Students
will develop effective collaborative skills needed to conduct research and
perform scientific tasks.

Grading
Students will receive a variety of summative marks throughout this quarter,
which will all contribute to an overall grade. This will include quizzes, work
portfolios, handouts, presentations, and projects.
Materials
Students are required to come prepared to class. This includes acting
appropriately and bringing necessary supplies (binder, pencil, previous
handouts). Students are encouraged to bring Chromebooks or laptops to class
that may be used in research or to complete work.
