Common Wealth Support Desk Questions – 28th August 2018

Why doesn’t this Excel template work?

Check Subscription first. Only Wealth Full users have full excel functionality. Basic and Advanced users
only have access to Real Time codes in excel. Their FactSet ribbon will look like this:

How can I share my watchlist/workspace with my colleague?

1) Sharing Watchlist files. Right click > Save Ticker List… > Save into Client directory

Colleague then opens using the drop down arrow > Open Ticker List
2) Sharing Tabs. Click the arrow on the tab > Share… > Save in Client folder

Colleague then clicks the blue/white plus > Open saved tabs

3) Sharing a workspace. Can only do in-house using workspace manager.

Morph in and select ‘Internal’ as Network > open following link in Chrome:
workspacemanager.apps.factset.com

My Shortcuts are taking me to the wrong place.

Shortcuts my default take the user to the first available instance. This causes problems when running
shortcuts to Full Quotes. Open Shortcut Manager > Edit Shortcut > Select Launch Outside FactSet and
Launch New Instance

My Level One Quote has disappeared

Full Quote runs off an excel template. This is amendable by right clicking and selecting Edit Template.

If a template is lost, Right click > Open Template > Select the correct template. A number of Wealth
clients use ProQuoteLast-LONp.xls which contains a yellow price strip:
I want to add a notes, Total return and NAV to my watchlist.

1) Notes is a default column. Right click > Options > Columns > All > Notes > Add > OK
2) Total Return is a custom column. From the options screen select New > magnifying glass >
search for a total return formula > Ok > Ok
3) NAV is available as a default column but this has limited coverage. Client will most likely need a
Morningstar subscription.

I want to copy my columns across my watchlists

From Options menu select Save As… > Give name and Save. Then select Layout from drop down in
Market Watch:
I want to change the colours in my watchlist

1) Right click > Format > Market Watch > Advanced > Change individual components
2) Preferred method. Right click > Format > Select global colour settings. Wrench icon in FactSet >
Preferences > Workstation Preferences > Local Settings > Colour settings for Real time displays:

This allows you to synchronize the colours for all real time components.
Why does the S&P 500 show 0% in the %Chg column in the mornings? Why can’t it show last night’s
%chg, as of when the markets closed?

You can flick this setting on via Workstation Preferences as well:

I created a Quick Portfolio and I want to add additional columns but can’t do this in QP, can you help?

Open the portfolio using Data Central, not QP > Spanner icon > Database > Database Attributes:
Click Add > Enter your field, field type and frequency > OK:

Can I have Total Return and 20-day moving average in my chart?

Real time screens use @C for their charting, as it is quicker than @IC.

1) @C does not support Total Return for equities. Only for Indices. They will have to use @IC for
this.
2) The moving averages can be amended in the Cog Icon > Upper Indicators > select a moving
average > Change the number of days:
