DETAILED LESSON PLAN

In Earth Science

I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standard
1. Geologic processes that occur on the surface of the Earth such as weathering,
erosion, mass wasting, and sedimentation (include the role of ocean basins in
the formation of sedimentary rocks)
2. Geologic processes that occur within the Earth
B. Learning Competencies
1. Describe how rocks undergo weathering (SS11/12ES-IIa-22).
2. Explain how the products of weathering are carried away by erosion and
deposited elsewhere (S11/12ES-IIa-b23).
3. Explain how rocks and soil move downslope due to direct action of gravity
(S11/12ES-IIb-22).

Specific Learning Outcomes

At the end the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. Define geomorphic processes and identify its types (exogenic and
endogenic).
2. Discuss the types of exogenic processes and endogenic processes.
3. Classify factors affecting different types of weathering.
4. Differentiate exogenic processes and endogenic processes.
5. Construct a concept map of the geomorphic processes.

Teacher’s Activity Learners’ Activity

A. ENGAGE:
Introduce the concept of Motivation Activity for Exogenic Process:
Geomorphic Process among the class
by asking what they observe on the “DRAW IT UP”

these processes. 2. The illustrator must draw the word
given and other groupmates must
guess what is being illustrated.
3. The group with the highest number of
guessed words wins.

Words to illustrate:
Category
Easy Average Hard
Rocks Weathering Gravity
River Erosion Solar
Wind Temperature Radiation
Waves Flood Transportation
Earth Glaciers Pressure
Above Surface Slow
Human

Motivation Activity for Endogenic Process:

“CELEBRITY BLUFF”
The learners will determine whether
the statement is a “FACT” or a “BLUFF”.

Statements:
1. Plutonic rocks are formed when
magma solidifies within the crust.
Answer: Fact
2. Magma can be produced in mountain
ranges.
Answer: Bluff - Magma can never be
produced in mountain ranges.
3. Volcanism is the phenomenon of
eruption of molten rock.
Answer: Fact
4. Eruption of volcanos or the magma is
the main sources of sedimentary
rocks.
Answer: Bluff – Eruption of volcanos or
the magma is the main sources of
igneous rocks.
B. EXPLORE:

The teacher will introduce and

discuss the concept of Geomorphic
Process and the difference between
Exogenic and Endogenic Process
and its types.

II. The teacher will facilitate an activity

introducing the types of weathering.

Our activity is entitled “Think!

Classify! and Share!” wherein through
these students could be familiar with
the factors affecting various types of
weathering.

Our activity is entitled “Think!

Classify! and Share!” wherein through
this you could be familiar with the
processes involved in each type of
weathering.

III. Right after the students classify each

process into its appropriate type of
weathering, they must have their
explanation.

IV. Right after each student have their

explanations, the teacher will check
each and thoroughly discuss the
types of weathering and the
processes it encompasses.
C. EXPLAIN:

I. The teacher will discuss the definition

of Geomorphic Processes.

II. The teacher will present and discuss

types of exogenic processes, the
weathering, mass wasting, erosion,
transportation and deposition

III. The teacher will discuss and classify

different processes involved in each
type of Weathering, which are
Physical Weathering, Chemical
Weathering and Biological
Weathering.

IV. The teacher will introduce the

learners to another type of
geomorphic process, the Endogenic
Processes and will discuss the
different types involved in this
process.

D. ELABORATE:

I. Teacher will facilitate recitation or I. The learners will participate in a

sharing of learnings attained by the class discussion by answering
learners from the lesson. questions of the teachers and by
sharing their ideas in the class.
