tropical country many tourists will enjoy anywhere part of the country. Resort is one of the

vital part of the tourism in the country. Having features like this will benefit not only the

country but the people who’ll get to experience it. It is an economic and social

phenomenon which will optimize and diversify destinations. Whether local or foreign

tourists they should get the chance to witness the wonders of the country. Connection

with nature will be able to relax, unwind and lets you refresh your minds away from the

city. Providing a place to stay can give them assurance to appreciate the beauty of nature

and be able to be involve with various activities.

Coron Island in Palawan has always been on the bulletin for its famous

beautiful attractions. The breathtaking natural beauty and exquisite history will bring you

to a wonderful experience. The island itself features stunning white beaches, lakes, and

limestone cliffs. An indigenous tribe is protecting and preserving the island in order to

maintain its natural features. Coron is an underdeveloped island. It is considered as a

paradise as many have said. The island being underdeveloped makes the place more

involved with nature and will cause less harm to the environment. For this instance it is

better to develop a sustainable resort that will not compromise the resources Coron have.

Coron is abundant when it comes to scenic spots and great sea life which will

attract more tourists. Coron Island will stand out among the rest for its natural wonders.

It will contribute more to the tourism industry and the people living there will be given

opportunities to have an income.

 II. Background of The Study

In the Philippines, Palawan is culturally and economically a rich archipelago. It

composes several islands and one of it is Coron Island. This island is famous for its vast

pristine white beaches, historical diving spots, mountain peaks, limestone cliffs, lakes,

and sea life. There are many wonderful places in Coron and many local and foreign

tourists would love to visit it. It offers various attractions which will open a gateway to

booming of tourism industry. Coron island’s majestic presence is enough to attract many

tourists. Due to rapid rise of tourists existing facilities are not sufficient enough to

accommodate them.

The island is situated in a tropical country and this means many would love to

visit it. The mesmerizing landscapes and high bio-diversity is what Coron is known for. It

is famous for its historical background and especially the Japanese shipwrecks. The site

is one of the top diving spots in the world. The island is perfect for snorkeling, diving,

island hopping, and deep sea fishing.

The present condition of Coron will lead to proposing beach resort to provide

users what they need to have a wonderful stay. Eventhough Coron have already resorts,

it isn’t enough to cater all tourists especially now everyone is lured in the beauty of Coron.

Develop more to economically help Coron in its tourism industry. Tourism is very

important in a place because it will promote the culture and living lifestyle of the place.

Coron is way to go to a more developed town. It has a little bit of everything that makes it

more an ideal destination to travel.

 III. Statement of The Problem

Coron is facing environmental problems such as destruction of the marine life

and physical characteristics of the island. Due to illegal settlements improper sewage

facilities and solid waste management are present and this caused damaged to the

environment. There are many abusive tourists which will harm the natural features of

Coron and this would cause more damage. In the absence of resort facilities, numerous

visitors are going to Coron and it wouldn’t give them pleasure if they can’t even get to

experience the beauty of Coron the way it is.

Tourism is a vast industry which will provide various services to generate

revenues for the country. The booming of the tourism is hindered due to lack of utilities

and facilities. Having a low tourism industry will affect the economic growth of the place.

IV. Objectives of The Study

1. To provide sustainable environment to local and foreign tourists.

2. To design a resort to boost the economy of the place.

3. To provide proper facilities to promote natural features.

4. To design the resort with accordance to the needs of the users.

VI. Hypothesis

Philippines is known as a famous travel destination and it also has a tropical

climate which makes it more suitable for developing beach resorts. Many are driven to go

to a beautiful relaxing place so they visit the country more often. By proposing a beach

resort this will give way to booming of the tourism industry and to local residents. This will

also help lessen the harmful effect on the environment.

 VII. Significance of The Study

The intention of this study will help the tourism of Coron by promoting it through

providing enough facilities to tourists like beach resort. Coron is known for its stunning

sea life. It will give job opportunities to local residents and increase their source of income.

The purpose of this study will help promote not only Coron but also the country itself to

gain more tourists that will increase economy and employment rate.

Tourism is an important sector in a developing country. Having a rich

archipelago this would be an advantage to many local and foreign tourists as they will be

able to discover the wonder of the place. Beach resorts are known to help improve the

stay of tourists by means of connecting them to nature and avoiding the hustle city. If the

study is successful, they will be able to provide good quality of service in order to attract

more tourists and comeback to Coron.

VIII. Scope and Limitation

This study will focus on maintaining and preserving the natural wonders of

Coron. The proposed beach resort will solely be sustainable in order to provide excellent

service to tourists. The study comprises sustainable concepts in order to less the damage

in the environment. Local residents may oppose to the proposed beach resort as they will

feel threatened but this will give them the assurance to have a prosperous living. The

scope of this study is to include all aspects in environmental, social, and cultural aspects

of Coron.
