 Key issue / event of the week


In Syntax Fashions, there are place for 8 lines of production for the orders from different
buying house. According to their policy, each buying house can occupy 2 production
lines at most. But ISP Bangladesh was using 3 production lines so far, because there were
less number of orders for the factory.
But few days ago, the factory got another order, so ISP Bangladesh had to stop 3rd
production line there, and currently 2 production lines are ongoing.
In that 2 production line, currently our daily production is 1500 pieces on average every
day.

 Activities / responsibilities I have carried


As my supervisor visits Syntax fashions twice a week, it also falls into my responsibility
now to cooperate him in both places. Currently the production is going on for jacket
(girl), and pants (boy). 2 separated product lines for 2 products. Both the jacket and pant
got order for different styles, and each style need to have different supervision. Whenever
I am in syntax, I find it very difficult to make the workers understand the style.
Sometimes worker get confused, and makes errors. That also is a major reason for the
rejected items. It needs serious concentration from the supervisor to minimize the errors
of a line.

 Indication of theory that I can relate while working at the office


The core purpose of the Human Resource courses is to provide the students with the
proper idea of how to train and develop an employee, how to understand and support him
to bring the best output from him to achieve the organizational goals effectively and
efficiently.
What I found in the factory is, workers of our country work very hard, but they cannot
give their best just because there is no training and development process in the factories.
After joining the work, a worker learns how to operate a machine and get the work done
with it. But about other related issues in production, they either learn them by their own,
or keeps making errors during work.

 Problem that I have identified


Sometimes there are problems with the rolls. For the production, fabric comes as “fabric
role” in different color. Sometimes there are shading in the fabric role. To be more
detailed – if the fabric role is white in color, sometimes there is an “off white” shade is
found in a part of that fabric role. This is called shading.
Shading creates problem during production. If a worker cuts in the middle of the shading,
from that part, the produced cloth will be of 2 different colors, and the difference of color
will be visible. So either the worker can take the shaded part separately (which is possible
sometimes) and make a cloth out of it, then the problem about that shaded part can be
neutralized. The color difference will not be visible after the production. Or else, the
shaded part is needed to be removed completely, which is a waste of fabric.

 Suggestion for the area to improve operation

I think the producers of the fabric-roll needs to be more cautious while producing the
rolls. When few areas of a roll needs to be removed due to shadings, it becomes really
tough to produce the desired amount of cloths out of that roll. If such shadings continues
for 4 – 5 rolls, the production line might have to face a shortage in rolls, and it is not
possible to buy a single roll from anywhere. Rolls can be bought in balk only.
Producers need to be more focused while mixing the color with the raw fabric.
