1 OBJECTIVE
The objective is to describe the minimum expectations and responsibilities for surveyors, Third Party
surveyors and Inspection engineers.

2 APPLICABILITY
This description is valid for all surveyors, Third Party surveyors and Inspection engineers,
unless limitation/additional requirements are given by the Line Manager.

3 REPORTING LINES
Surveyors & Related shall report directly to the Station Responsible/ Business Head.

4 ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITY

4.1 General
 The Surveyors/Engineers should actively promote, support and facilitate the fulfillment of DNV
GL’s objectives, vision and values.
 The Surveyors/Engineers shall not be limited to the general expectations and responsibilities
described herein, on the contrary, they shall regard this function description to cover the
minimum expectations and responsibilities.

4.2 Production
 Production work shall be carried out in accordance with internal instructions/guidelines and as directed
by line manager.
 Maintain effective communication in the office with respect to any activities/services which may
be undertaken within their area of responsibility or that may impact upon their customers.

 Support their Line Managers in the resolution of problems which may occur within ANZ for clients.

4.3 Personnel
 Take initiative regarding own professional development (through planned dialogues or in other ways).
 Contribute to a good and positive working environment, and to a co-operative atmosphere.
 Evaluate own competence compared to an assigned task, and if necessary seek assistance from line
manager.

4.4 Quality
 Be responsible for quality of own work.
 Plan, perform, and report the work in accordance with governing documents (eg. IS) and instructions
from line manager.
 Identify possibilities for quality improvement and propose actions.
 Actively contribute in implementation of the QMS.
 Make sure that requirements regarding personal safety are fulfilled

4.5 Economy/Plans
Perform the work in a cost effective manner, beneficial both to the customer and to DNV, within the limits
given by the requirements to quality in work performance.

4.6 Market
 Portray DNV GL is a positive manner to customers and public.
 To liaise with Unit, Office and Station Managers to ensure our service to customers is, and is
perceived to be, uniform, harmonious and cost effective.

4.7 Safety, Health and Environment


 Be aware of and work within all relevant DNV SHE procedures, Customer and Statutory
regulations applicable for the station and work location/s.
 Ensure that all DNV and local procedures for environmental management are adhered with.
