EXPERIMENT-6
AIM:- Implementation of wireless LAN.
A wireless LAN (WLAN) is a wireless computer network that links two or more devices using
wireless communication to form a local area network (LAN) within a limited area such as a
home, school, computer laboratory, campus, office building etc. This gives users the ability to
move around within the area and yet still be connected to the network. Through a gateway, a
WLAN can also provide a connection to the wider Internet.

A WLAN is sometimes called as a local area wireless network (LAWN).

Features of WLAN:-

• High Capacity Load Balancing

• Scalability
• Network Management System
• Role Based Access Control
• Indoor as well as Outdoor coverage options
• Ability to Measure Performance
• Network Access Control

STEPS TO IMPLEMENT WLAN:

Step 1: Design a network on packet tracer, then provide IP address and default gateway to
every PC in network

Step 2: Now attach Linksys-WMP300N module which provides one 2.4GHz wireless
interface suitable for connection to wireless networks. The module supports protocols that
use Ethernet for LAN access.

Step 3: After the above steps ,your PCs will auotmatically connect to the wireless router and
you can easily ping one pc to another pc.

The Ping Command

The ping command is a very common method for troubleshooting the accessibility of devices.
It uses a series of Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) Echo messages to determine:

● Whether a remote host is active or inactive.

● The round-trip delay in communicating with the host.

● Packet loss.

EXPERIMENT-9
AIM:- Installation of Wireshark on computer.
Wireshark is the world’s foremost and widely-used network protocol analyzer. It lets you see
what’s happening on your network at a microscopic level and is the de facto (and often de jure)
standard across many commercial and non-profit enterprises, government agencies, and
educational institutions. Wireshark development thrives thanks to the volunteer contributions
of networking experts around the globe and is the continuation of a project started by Gerald
Combs in 1998.

Wireshark has a rich feature set which includes the following:

● Deep inspection of hundreds of protocols, with more being added all the time

● Live capture and offline analysis

● Standard three-pane packet browser

● Multi-platform: Runs on Windows, Linux, macOS, Solaris, FreeBSD, NetBSD, and

many others

● Captured network data can be browsed via a GUI, or via the TTY-mode TShark utility

● The most powerful display filters in the industry

● Rich VoIP analysis
