School-based TIP benefits newly-hired teachers

In line with the Mid-year Performance Review Evaluation (MPRE), Bani National High School (BNHS)
conducted a school-based Teacher Induction Program (TIP) on October 23.

Ms. Arzel Vidal, Mrs. Robina Cariaso, Ms. Cristine Edquid, Mrs. Zoila Atrero, Mrs. Irene Valencia, Ms.
Kristel Encina, and Mrs. Mildred Banaban are among the newly-hired teachers who attended in the
said activity.

As part of the induction program, lectures and workshops were administered. Mrs. Josephine Ermita,
Teacher III, Mrs. Mila Marabe, Teacher III, and Mrs. Maureen Abadilla, Guidance Counselor,
spearheaded the lectures and then challenged the newly-hired teachers to be productive.

Among the discussed topics were the overview of the Teacher Induction Program (TIP), Philippine
Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST), and National Competency-Based Training Standard
(NCBTS).

The lecturers explained the content of the six modules and expressed the importance of each. Also,
the lecturers emphasized the activities needed to be accomplished in the school year 2019-2020.
The speakers then revealed that the newly-hired teachers are entitled to submit the module, prior
to the mandate of the Schools Division of Zambales.

On the other hand, the lecturers talked about the significant differences between Philippine
Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST) and National Competency-Based Training Standard
(NCBTS). The latter, which has been the framework in the education system, impact the curriculum
in the long run and it has been declared that NCBTS do not meet the increasingly-complex
demands of the learners. In connection, the issue called for the birth of the PPST. It is somehow similar
to the latter but the former’s ideas are presented in capsule. Meaning, PPST provides a more
relevant framework and remedy.

According to Edquid, the school-based Teacher Induction Program (TIP) is a program that envisions
to strengthen and to better the teaching strategies and techniques. Also, the teacher revealed that
without TIP teachers will not be moved because as to her, TIP instills the values and responsibility of
teachers.

“Big help talaga ang school-based TIP. Aside from the fact that it brings the knowledge, inclusivity,
and responsibility, it also promotes oneness among the teachers kasi nga it is school based,” the
teacher added.

Today, the school is looking forward to meet the Department of Education’s mission as well as the
observance of its core values through the strengthened teaching force.
GAD program fosters unity in diversity

Strengthening relationships and building memories, teaching and non-teaching personnel of Bani
National High School (BNHS) gathered at Camp Cainomoyan, Botolan, Zambales on October 26.

Mr. Guillermo E. Mantes, Principal II, headed the group and as to him, the one-day event is in line
with the school’s Gender and Development (GAD) program.

The group arrived at 7 o’clock in the morning and the cold gust and calm environment greeted
them. Of course, the group was fascinated by the authentic beauty of the camp and what actually
adds to the amazing panorama are the masterpieces carved and produced by the members of
Aeta community.

Selfies here and groupies there. The captivating and hard-to-forget Camp Cainomayan took the
team building activity into another level as its amenities brought so much joy and excitement.

As part of the activity, two groups were formed and each group have presented their yell, revealing
uniqueness as well as camaraderie. Aside from this, ribbons were worn as symbols of oneness amid
differences.

Moreover, the group members experienced the struggles of a soldier through paint ball.
