operation, following transient actuation by the power frequency voltage developed
across the Line Trap by the rated short time current. The protective device shall be
shunt connected to the main coil and tuning device. The Lightning Arrestor provided
with the Line Trap shall fully comply with the requirements of IS 3070 part–I/ IEC–
99-1 Part I/ IEC –99–4.

2.01.06 All the mounting accessories and hardware including bolts for fixing the Line Trap on
insulators shall be of non-magnetic material to eliminate heating due to the intense
magnetic field of the trap under heavy load conditions.

2.01.07 Sharp corners shall be avoided on the outer surface of the trap to minimize corona
losses.

2.01.08 Barriers shall be provided on the end brackets to prevent entry of birds in the interior of the
trap.

2.01.09 The insulating members shall be either porcelain or impregnated fibrous materials, to
ensure against ingress of moisture and decay.

2.01.10 Suitable socket and accessories (without Disc insulator) for hanging the line trap by
suspension insulator shall be supplied by Bidder along with line trap.

2.01.11 Testing of line traps should be in accordance to IS : 8793 .

BUS by means of AAAC conductor described in Cl. 1.01.02. Terminal Connectors
shall be designed for the same current ratings as Line Trap and temperature shall not
exceed 40 deg. C over 50 deg. C ambient. Terminal Connectors shall conform to IS :
5561. No part of Terminal Connector (including hardware) shall be of magnetic
material. Connectors shall be designed corona controlled. All nuts and bolts shall be
suitably shrouded.
