GTE STATEMENT

My name is CHRISTINE JOY GOPEZ DEPONA with

passport number P4873073A and currently residing at District 2
Block 9 Lot 13 Pandacaqui Resettlement Mexico Pampanga,
Philippines. I am currently enrolled at Albright Institute a
Registered Training Organization in Sydney, NSW with
CRICOS Registration 096465F.
CIRCUMSTANCES IN MY HOME COUNTRY
After I graduated in college at Angeles University Foundation
with a Bachelor degree in Medical Technology, I prepared for
my licensure examination by enrolling in a review center.
Fortunately, I passed my examination and I have decided to
work immediately after. Presently, I am working as a Medical
Technologist at Parian Diagnostic Laboratory situated at
Mexico, Pampanga which caters Secondary Health Services.

I felt I am more of being just a member of a company, this gives

me an urge of wanting to develop my leadership skill and that I
can only have the best through enrolling in
Australia with today's competitive market.
I consider the following as reasons why I should study in
Australia rather than in the Philippines.
• Excellent and Innovative Approach in Teaching
Australia is ranked as one of the top study destinations
among international students. This is largely contributed on
the excellent and innovative approach in teaching which
requires students to be participative and independent
learners.
• Multicultural
Australia is one of the most multicultural country in the
world making it unique among other countries in the world.
Studying in a multicultural country like Australia will give
me so much experience in learning what they think on a
particular topic because learner’s orientation is different.
The differences among us will make learning more diverse
and exciting.
• English Speaking Country
Australia is an English-speaking country and studying here
will improve my language. While Philippines gives so
much importance in English language, the practical side of
it is not given emphasis. The experience of using it all the
time will develop not only skills but also my readiness to
be globally competitive.

• My siblings are in Australia

I have been a number one fan my older sister and brother
who are presently studying in Australia. I admire the kind
of life they have in Australia. I like what they are telling
about their schooling experiences in Australia and so these
made me very eager to be with them and to find out for
myself the kind of education they have in Australia.
POTENTIAL CIRCUMSTANCES IN AUSTRALIA
I’m planning to stay in my sister’s house together with my
brother for few days, and then will discover a location to rent
near the institute that will provide a weekly rent of about $100
of shared space for two and will use train as a mode of
transportation, and my budget for my living price of around
20,060Aud a year has already been set aside to satisfy my needs.
I have been appraised of the financial capacity and declaration
by RPS Migration and according to them, I need to follow the
provisions of Immi 18/010 on Evidence of Financial Capacity of
Main in Student Visa 500.
With regard to travel cost, the cost of travel from Philippines to
Sydney is 2500Aud with return ticket. My parents will buy me a
ticket once the visa is secured.
I paid the amount of 6000Audt as my full payment for the
tuition fee. I arranged the term payment to school and this shall
be paid by my parents through bank transfer.
As regards with the living cost, I can meet the amount of 20,
290Aud for a year since my parents are both financially stable
and adequate as well as my siblings who are ready to help are
also employed. I will attach the Certificates of Employment of
my parents and siblings as well as their Letter of Support. We
have declared in the visa application the ongoing income
amounting to 60,000Aud a year as financial capacity
declaration.

In my research I have found out about the different courses and

the different schools in Sydney which are very relevant to the
education I got here in the Philippine. I chose Sydney for my
siblings are residing at Unit 6 73 Grasmere Road Cremorne
Sydney NSW 2090 and knowing Sydney in its best. I have
decided to engage in Albright Institute and take the Diploma of
Leadership and Management located at Sydney, Australia. In my
researching online I learned more about this school and what the
course Leadership and Management would give me in my future
and later for our country.

Based on my research, I decided to be enrolled in Albright

Institute and take the Leadership and Management . This course
has been included in our curriculum in the Philippines however
this was offered only as a minor subject in a limited time in a
semester. As time passes by, I had realized that in a working
world, competition is so rigid, that if I will not advance
educationally I will remain a follower or a member of a team.
But since I have greater vision of who I would become after ten
years, I decided to choose the course Leadership and
Management. I envision myself as leader or manager who does
not only lead a company but more so lead people. This vision of
mine will not only benefit me but also my country, as well.

With my thorough reading and further understanding, I’ve

learned the rules and regulation of Albright Institute which I
should follow religiously. I am fully aware that I must comply
with the student visa terms and conditions and must have an
Overseas Student Health Cover for as long as I stay in Australia
on a student visa. I am also aware that I must inform my
institution if in the case of change of address and contact. I
know by heart and mind that my sole purpose of going to
Australia is to study and so work will be limited only so that my
focus is on my educational advancement. I am informed that my
52 weeks course in Albright Institute, I should maintain a
satisfactory course progress and attendance.
When I received the Letter of Offer, I read the terms and
conditions and sign the documents which prove that I
understand the value of the course that I am going to take. I
would like to discuss in detail Diploma of Leadership and
Management.

The course is a nationally accredited course in Australia

the 52-week course.

The Australian qualification which is a prerequisite awarded to

the students is not available in the Philippines because this is the
very reason why all practical and theoretical lessons are being
carried out in Australia. I do not want to have the Recognition of
Prior Learning because I want to learn the skill in a process that
is recognized in Australia and at par with Australian standards.
Studying in Australia will have a great impact on my academic
and employment background because the qualification provides
a pathway to work in a managerial role.
The reason of study in Australia is to become an Australian
Qualified candidate and there is neither evidence nor an
indication that I will use the student visa programme to
circumvent the intentions of the migration programme.

The cogent reasons are the following:

• Professional Development
As a matured age learner, I highly regard this study as a
professional advancement for me. Being in a challenging
world, I need to be ready by developing my skills and
adding something on my qualification to be at par with
international market demands.

• Career-driven qualification
Since I want to become a manager someday, this course is a
preparation for me to achieve my goal. This is the starting
point of that career that is waiting to happen.

• Competency-based
Set of trainings are given to develop the abilities of the
students that can be used in real life situation. Each learner
has to meet a level of standards of competency in order to be
awarded a qualification

RPS Migration has an excellent set of Qualified Education

Counsellors and Registered Migration Agent who discuss salient
points in studying in Australia. They discussed the National
Code of Practice and some points of Migration Regulations Act
of 1994 in relation to my student visa application.
I have selected the Albright Institute to undertake my studies
located at the heart of Sydney, that offers the most updated and
advance programs, scoring among the top cities for start ups and
entrepreneurs.
In its handbook, it has provided the services and support of the
institution to international students. The Orientation Program,
Course Syllabus, Fees and facilities are thoroughly discussed
and I consider this as a factor in choosing this institution.
Value of Diploma of Leadership and Management to my
Future
While I finished Bachelor Of Science in Medical Technology in
the Philippines, I intend to take Diploma of Leadership and
Management to enhance my skill set in such area that was not
given emphasis in my bachelor degree. I have been working for
several months and I was struggling in solving leadership and
management scenarios. The roles and responsibilities that are
reproduced in this application can be better delivered if I have
formal training on this.

The advantages of planning, organizing, controlling and

directing are skills that I need to get right now because
workplaces have varied challenges. It is also related to my
employment and background since the workplace needs that
skill set in order to give better patient care.
As can be gleaned from my Resume, I have always engaged
myself in professional development including attending training
and seminars. Because I have been working for several months,
I now realize that there is a need for me to upgrade my skill in
the field of Leadership and Management. My experience is not
enough, it has to be validate some formal trainings and I find the
syllabus of Albright Institute as the right school for me to ready
me to solve different workplace scenarios.
My motivation to study is largely dependent on intrinsic
motivation rather than extrinsic reward. I want to study to ready
myself in solving different workplace’s challenges that need
leadership and management skill. The reward I will get is the
confidence in managing such scenario and the better reliance of
your workmates regarding your capability. In doing so I believe
that the extrinsic reward which is career advancement or
promotion will follow.
I want to go back to my field of work as Medical Technologist
as well but in a managerial role because I have already gained
Australian qualification. I am professionally prepared because of
my license, however, I need to develop the skill set that I have in
order to be more successful. My current role as a manager in a
different field is readying me to handle people but I would like
the formal qualification that is highly related to MedTech and
with my Australian qualification. Having exposed to different
scenarios in the present workplace, I will carry this in the event
that I would choose to be in the clinical setting armed with
leadership and management skills I gained in this course.
I have no job offer for management roles so I do not want to
speculate on the amount of salary I will be getting if I secure
such a job. Rather, I am presenting some research job available
with management roles to present facts that having additional
qualifications especially if they are from Australia will give you
extrinsic reward.

As a Medical Technologist working for several months, I want

to be the head of the department someday. After my studies in
Australia, I will be more competent in the job and will secure a
better position in order to apply what I have gained in Australia.
If that happens in the same organization it is a plus. However,
the industry is big and it invites more qualified people who can
bring so much skill on the table.

Also, I highly regard the following points as values of Diploma

of Leadership and Management to my future.

• Highly Relevant to Previous Education and Experience

Taking this course has gone a long research and deliberation
because I took into consideration my previous qualification
and experience. In my analysis, this course will definitely
help me become a good leader because of its theoretical and
actual experience in the course. In every workplace
environment, leadership and management are highly
necessary.
• International Recognition
Getting an Australia qualification is an advantage since it is
recognized around the world. The quality of education in
Australia is regarded as one of the best because of its key
indicators that are measured scientifically. If I would gain
this qualification, it follows that there is an increased
employability whether in my home country or third
country.

• Practice-based programme
The institution provides apprenticeship or practice
programmes wherein the students can use their skills
learned in the classrooms. These training programs are
patterned from the key industries work training
programmes which will help the learners gain insights of
real world scenario.

I am fully aware of the fees and facilities of the school and the
cost of living in Australia as stated in the Students Prospectus. I
am secured that my financial savings can cover all my expenses
since my mother is a school head in a government school in the
Philippines, my father has his own business, my siblings are in
Australia with these alone I know I am financially ready to study
in Australia.
After my schooling in Australia, I am sure that I will return to
my mother land and apply what I learned from Australia. With
the qualification that Australia gives there is no doubt that I
could be a good leader. This will also give me an opportunity to
serve my countrymen.
This may be my first time to apply for an Australian visa and I
am positive for that this will give a different angle in my life
where my potentials are maximized. I am sincerely hoping that
the Department of Immigration and Boarder will help me realize
my vision.

Respectfully yours,
