Glossary Knowledge Gate

Administrator A person who is responsible for the administration and


maintaining the community, adding and configuring new
learning environments (i.e. trainings, learning groups) tools (i.e.
conferences) and setting up user accounts; different right
groups: User Administrator, i.e. only to create or delete user
accounts ( User Administrator); subgroup: supporting
team/help desk;

Channel A channel contains one specific topic, i.e. ISO 27001;


a training through which information are transmitted; within a
channel three different job families (auditors, sales and
certification reviewer) exist.

Channel Manager A person who is responsible for communication and information


within a specific Channel and supervises the experts/authors of
a channel; they are also Lead Auditors for the Channel topic;

Community A group of people who communicate with one another and with
an organization and engage in a process of collective learning
in a shared domain;
They can evolve naturally because of the member´s common
interest in a particular domain or it can be created specifically
with the goal of gaining knowledge related to their field; The
members learn from each other and have the opportunity to
develop themselves personally and professionally;
Our community Knowledge Gate has various communication
and training tools for information transfer like forum, chat
systems and online conferences;

Community Charta Documents that describe the basic laws, principles, etc. of the
community, i.e. Netiquette or conditions of use

Community Manager A person who is managing a specific community for business; a


Community Manager build relationships within the community,
create value for the members and be the connection between
the community and the company behind it; he is responsible for
the administrators and supports the communication between
the various members of the community; it is the job of the
community manager to create the environment, set the stage,
and make sure participants are encouraged and rewarded but
not to be the primary actor. That means the measure of the
community managers success is the activities of the community
members.

EVP Level –
Management Talk General conference once a month for sharing information about
general EVP topics (i.e. exchanges of experience, question and
answer, discussion)

Expert/ Author A person with a high degree of skills or knowledge of a certain


subject (e.g. ISO 27001, ISO 50001 etc.); this person is

responsible to support the process of spreading information in
the community. Also he can be the author of news or forum
articles and supervise mandatory trainings of the Knowledge
Gate Channels.

Expert Call Live-Online Event or conference with a trainer/moderator, e.g.


to answer questions on the topic or get more profound
knowledge by a subject matter expert

Forum The forum is subdivided into several topic or subtopic forum in


relation to the various channel subjects. Also there is a general
forum for the community Knowledge Gate to discuss overall
themes about the business of TR Systems.

FAQ Channel Manager, Experts etc. can collect the most important
questions and answers of forum topics and release them in the
FAQ. FAQs can be set optional for several topic or subtopic
forum in the Knowledge Gate Channels.

Lead Auditor A person who is responsible for leading the audit team and
prepares the audit plan, conducts meetings and submits the
formal audit report in his domain (i.e. ISO 27001, ISO 50001).

Lead Auditor Talk An online conference, provided for precise participants and
instructed by a Lead Auditor.

Learning Group A collection of persons who are engaged in a mandatory


training to a specific subject; a collection in which each person
learns autonomously or through the ways of learning with
others.

Learning Plan A user-specific program or strategy of learning that helps to


achieve short- and long-term learning goals, most commonly at
specific levels; in Knowledge Gate the learning plan is provided
in the calendar and is created by community management
(supported by experts).

Learning Module Several modules can be selected for a learning sequence in a


mandatory training or can be used separately as a training (i.e.
Profiling, videocast, WBT, expert call)

Mandatory trainings It has to be completed to get basic or more profound knowledge


in the working fields of the participants and to fulfill the
individual learning plan.

Netiquette Rules for the common handling of the community platform.

Participants Members of the community. Take part in communication


processes and participate in mandatory trainings. Are integrated
into learning groups and Channels.

Profiling The recording and analysis of a person´s abilities and


characteristics on a specific subject, so as to assess or predict
their capabilities in a certain category; participants do a

knowledge-based profiling to gather their individual previous
knowledge of the issue in preparation of the training.

Training A course or subject of study for participants.

User Administrator A person who has just the right to create or delete user
accounts (i.e. regional Administration of user Accounts,
management of user accounts in the field of freelance auditors.

Videocast short or medium- length video of a slide presentation moderated


by a subject matter expert/trainer; Chapters created as micro
learning in the length of 10 to about 20 minutes per topic (i.e.
Teaching factual and profound knowledge, announcing of new
provisions in the auditors fields etc.).

Web Based Training Interactive learning content with theoretical knowledge,


exercises and tests. It is designed with pictures and audio
recorded by a real speaker.
