I. OBJECTIVES

1. To define Government.
2. To define Governance.
3. Differentiate Government from Governance.

A. CONTENT STANDARD
 The learners demonstrate an understanding of politics and political science,
governance, political ideologies, power, states, nations and globalizations.

B. PERFORMANCE STANDARD
 The learner shall be able to clearly identify a specific political phenomenon and how it
can be studied.

C. LEARNING COMPETENCY
 Students differentiate government from governance.

IV. PROCEDURES

A. REVIEWING PREVIOUS LESSON OR PRESENTING THE NEW LESSON. (5 minutes).


 “IKAW NA”. Name of the students will be flashed and will be asked question to
review previous lessons.

B. ESTABLISHING THE PURPOSE OF THE LESSON (4 minutes)


 A short video clip will be shown to present about government and governance.

C. PRESENTING EXAMPLES/INSTANCES OF THE NEW LESSON (10 MINUTES)


 GRAFFITI. Each group will be asked to write significant words that will described the
video they saw on a cut- out paper and stick it to board.

D. DISCUSSING NEW CONCEPT AND PRACTICING NEW SKILL # 1 (5 minutes).


 PICK MO ‘TO’. One representative from each group will have to pick and identify
significant word which refers to government and another to governance.

E. DISCUSSING NEW CONCEPT AND PRACTICING NEW SKILL # 2 (7 minutes).


 The teacher will discuss with the aid of a PowerPoint presentation about the concept of
GOVERNMENT which is defined as the group of people with authority to govern a
country or state, while GOVERNANCE is defined as a process of decision making and
the process by which decisions are implemented. (Oxford Dictionary)

Each group will have ONE participant as their representatives. Each
representative will pick their question from a bowl. They will answer the question
with the beginning of I BELIEVE and ends with SANA ALL.

G. FINDING PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF CONCEPT AND SKILL IN DAILY LIVING (10


minutes)
 The will answer the following.
1. Is there any governance structure in our municipality?
2. If so what it is? Does it work? How does it work?
3. Why do you think our Municipality is one of the recipient of SEAL OF GOOD
GOVERNANCE among other municipality?

H. MAKING GENERALIZATION AND ABSTRACTION ABOUT THE LESSON. (5 minutes)


 The teacher will asked the student what is the difference of government and
governance?

 GOVERNMENT is merely an instrument for the purpose of governance while


GOVERNANCE is the exercise of political, economic and administrative
authority to manage a nations affairs.

I. EVALUATING LEARNING ( 6 minutes)

Quiz (10 pts). In a ½ cross-wise paper, the students will have to illustrate a VENN
DIAGRAM of GOVERNMENT and GOVERNANCE.

J. ASSIGNMENT:
 The teacher will ask the students to bring a picture of a known political leader.
