Internship is probably one of the most exciting part of college life. Apart from getting a glimpse
of the real world, it also signals that your journey as a student will reach a new milestone. The
kind that every student has been waiting for. Graduation. The harvest.

My journey as a psychology intern is indeed meaningful. Despite the fact that I was already
exposed to the real world since I have a work experience, I cannot discredit all the learning
that this internship has taught me. My exposure to different setting was really helpful in
discovering more of my capabilities. At this point in my life, I have already embraced my
strengths and weaknesses when it comes to skills in workplace and life in general. I had
already figured out what I want in life and as a passion-driven person, I always believe in the
saying “Do what you love” which is opposed by those who prefer “Love what you do”. I have
already set my goals after college but this internship made me reflect and consider things that
I never thought I’d be willing to be a part of. I’ve never seen myself working in the clinical
setting although my heart really goes for people who are mentally challenged and my
advocacy for mental health is pure. It’s not that I was not willing before, it’s just that, I was too
wired to stay in my comfort zone and I often go where I feel celebrated and where I can
maximize my skills but I also do not remove the monetary from the equation. But after I have
completed the required 400 hours, I have realized that knowing one’s strengths and
weaknesses is always a good idea. In fact, everyone’s really encouraged to do so. It’s a form
of self-love but focusing too much on your strength will hinder you from reaching your full
potential. if your abilities are not challenged, you’ll get stuck in a place where all your potentials
are already maximized which will leave you no room for growth. This internship is leading me
to discernment. It feels like my heart belongs to the clinical setting but my mind is for industrial
setting.

This Internship has allowed me to know myself better. It has exposed me to different skills.
Some of them, I already have and were definitely enhanced but majority of the skills I just had
learned during our internship. 400 hours may seem a little time for learning but if experience
is your teacher, that 400 hours can can teach you more than a chapter in a book.
