Service Standards

Training within the Parking Industry has developed substantially over the last few
years. At Stratford on Avon D.C. all staff must have completed and successfully
passed formal parking enforcement training prior to patrolling alone. This ensures
high standards, fairness and consistency across the service.

In addition to mandatory enforcement training, Stratford on Avon D.C. offer a wide

range of in–house development opportunities, some of which are compulsory* for a
Civil Enforcement Officer to undertake.

Courses available include:

• Organisational Induction*
• Health and Safety
• Manual Handling
• Dealing with Aggression*
• Handling Difficult People*
• Equality and Diversity*
• Customer Care
• Assertiveness Skills
• Customer Excellence
• Dignity at Work

Civil Enforcement Officer Supervisors undergo advanced training in management

supervision.

14 Civil Enforcement Officers have successfully completed BTEC level two in

Decriminalised Parking Enforcement.

18 Civil Enforcement Officers are recognised Ambassadors for Stratford on Avon.

This enables the team to provide additional assistance to visitors and residents to the
benefit of the District, whilst undertaking there daily duties in a frontline customer
environment.

19 Civil Enforcement Officers are also Police Accredited.

Police accreditation enables the police to ‘accredit’ employers and employees who are
not employed by the police, in discharging functions aimed at Community Safety.

Car Parks

Car Park Audits are undertaken quarterly throughout the year to ensure service
standards are met and maintained.

We endeavour to :

• Ensure each Car Park is visited 6 times a day

• Clean Parking Bays and litter bins emptied daily between April- September
• Mechanically Swept Car Parks every three months
• Ensure a minimum of 96% of all lights in parking areas are in working order
• Repair all minor faults with machinery within 24 hours
• Ensure that the surfaces and landscapes of the Parks are well maintained
• Enforce Parking regulations fairly and consistently

As a direct result of regular audits and maintenance of the car parks throughout
Stratford District, 13 have been accredited with the Safer Parking Award.

The safer Parking Award is designed to reduce crime and the fear of crime in car
parks, creating a safer environment for customers and vehicles.
