Note: This is open to all high school students of secondary public schools.
Contest guidelines and mechanics were based on the 2020 REGIONAL POPULATION QUIZ
and SKILLS COMPETITION Implementing Rules and Mechanics
A. POP QUIZ
1. The formulation of test questions for POP Quiz shall be based on the following Population
Education Core Messages/Key Concepts”
a. Family Life and Responsible Parenthood
b. Gender and development
c. Population and Reproductive Health
d. Population, Environment and Sustainable Development
2. The following websites which can be sources of information for PopEd concepts can be
downloaded also.

3. Each participating school should bring three (3) multiple choice with four choices test
questions based from the sources above with key to correction on the day of the contest. One
(1) Easy Question for one (1) point, one (1) average question for two (2) points and one (1)
difficult question for three (3) points
4. The total number of questions shall be based on the number of participants. Only one (1)
contestant per school is allowed.
5. Contestant will be provided with an answer sheet during the contest.
B. ASEAN QUIZ
1. There shall be one (1) contestant per school, be in grade 8 to 9 between 14-16 years
old and must not be 18 years old by the time of the ASEAN Regional Competition in
2021.
2. The contestant should be proficient in English language, both oral and written
3. Have a average grade of at least 85 and above in Araling Panlipunan in the First
semester of 2019-2020.
4. The contestants shall compete in two (2) segments.
5. The two (2) segments are as follows:
Segment 1: True or False will have 10 questions, each correct answer will be
given one (1) Point, and Multiple Choice- will have 10 questions, each correct answer
will be given one (1) Point. Total score of 20 points.
Segment 2: Fill-in-the Blanks or Completion will have 15 questions. Each
correct answer will be given 3 points. Total score is 45 points.
6. The total points for the Competition is 65.
7. The participants shall be seated in individual chairs with armrest. No coach shall be
allowed to enter the examination room or watch outside the room.
8. Each participants shall provide ¼ illustration board and eraser to be use in
answering the questions. Participants will write their answers on the blackside of the
illustration board.
9. For Segment 1, Participant will write the word True or False for the true or false
questions, and write the letter of the correct answer for the Multiple Choice questions.
Participants will be given 10 seconds to write their answer.
10. For Segment 2 , participants will be given 15 seconds to write down their answer.
Answers should be written in FULL, no abbreviatiosn or acronyms. Article and
prepositions should be correct. Answer with wrong spelling is considered WRONG. No
corrections on answer shall be made after 15 seconds.
11. Each question in Segment 1 and 2 will be read twice. After the quizmaster reads
the question the second time, he/she will sa”GO”, only then the participants will
write their answer. When the time is up. The Quizmaster will say “Markers up!”, the
participants will hold up their markers and show their answers. The Quizmaster will
read aloud the answer. The scorers will record the answers accordingly. Accumulative
score per participant will be announced by the Quizmaster after each round before
moving on the next segment.
12. The cumulative points earned by each participant in two segments shall be
tabulated. When results have been verified, it will be submitted to the Board and
announced accordingly by Quizmaster.
13.The Chairman of the Board of Judges shall declare the First, Second and Third Place
Winners. The First Place Winner per district shall represent in the Division
Competition.
14. In case of a tie, tie breaker question/s shall be asked until definite winner emerge.
15. Should there be questions or protest, the Board of Judges shall decide on the
matter.
D. After the first round only top 4 debaters will be chosen to the second round. There
will be draw lots to determine the order of the debaters. Same rule and processes from
the round one will be applied.
E. A new topic for the debate will be given on the second round.
F. Prompting and coaching during the duration of the debate shall be strictly
prohibited. Likewise cheering and making unnecessary noise are strictly not allowed.
Total = 100%
G. The decision of the Board of Judges shall be final.
Declaration of Winners
Only one contestant per district will represent in the Division Patiribayan sa Araling Lipunan
Disqualification of Contestant
Any violation of the contest rules by any contestant may cause disqualification of the
concerned contestant.
