Hello Sunshine, It's Booty Time!

What a treasure! I was awakened this morning to find that my man had scored this booty at the Vilcabamba Farmer's Market. Fresh, juicy produce from heaven
that appeared in my kitchen like an organic dream...

Veggies from Heaven

Total Bill for All These Fruits and Vegetables: $16.50!

• Tomatoes (organic), $.25 cents per pound, 6 pounds. $1.50
• Broccoli, .50 cents
• Yucca, (a root that makes great chips), 4 lbs for $1.00
• Carrots, (big bag), $1.00

Vilcabamba Farmer's Market

The Vilcabamba Farmer's Market is a Sunday ritual at the crack of dawn. Show up at 8:30AM and most of the vendors have packed up and gone home. In
Vilcabamba, if produce love is your religion it is essential that every Farmer's Market Sabbath be kept holy. This is our church, and all morning we were singing praises to
a bountiful harvest of bright red tomatoes and green Swiss chard. We were whirling dervishes in pineapple prayers...

I am turned on to being healthy just looking at this!

• Chard, $.50 cents per bunch

• Spinach, $.25 cents per bunch
• Garlic, .25 cents per head
• Romicia, (Romanesque Broccoli/Cauliflower), $1.00 CHECK THIS OUT!!!

Sacred Geometry Veggie Love

Romicia--Romanesque Broccoli/Cauliflower Hybrid, photo from Wikipedia

I borrowed this photo (above) from Wikipedia so you can see the amazing fractal patterns of life--the Fibonacci Spirals! It shows the remarkable broccoli/cauliflower
hybrid, called a Romicia, or Romanesque. They were first grown in Italy, but obviously you can find them in Vilcabamba, Ecuador (for $1.00)!

Tomorrow it will become part of our lunch...I think the sacred geometry shall do us some good! Perhaps we will find ourselves blissfully ascending through a
broco-flower-of-life experience?

My Fractal Romicia--so beautiful

And he played me that Jack Johnson song about Banana Pancakes (for real!)...
The alarm went off at 7AM this morning and I wasn't going to budge. I barely noticed that my man was out the door early to fetch a pail of water (5 gallon refill of purified
water from Vilca Vida Water Bottling Plant, $1.00) and trek off to the farmer's market. The market is perched next to the bus station and is a good 15 minute hike from
our little cottage. When he arrived home around 9AM he immediately started making some scrambled eggs, fresh fruit juice, and homemade gluten-free banana
pancakes with a homemade blackberry sauce--YUM! I don't know what turns me on more, the fresh ripeness that surrounded me or a man cooking me some rockin'
breaky (with a Jack Johnson soundtrack!).

Fine produce, Baby!

I lovingly arrange produce for the sexy veggie photo shoot while my man slaves away at the steamy stove...Baby waits for her pancakes too.

• Cucumbers, $.25 cents each (2), $.50 cents

• Onions (red), 4 lbs/$1.00
• Potatoes, 5 lbs/$1.00
• Camotes (red sweet potatoes), 4 lbs/$1.00
• Pumpkin (cubed, in bag), 2 lbs/$1.00
• Avocados, $.33 cents each, (3), $1.00

A bountiful morning

Why so much food love?

For starters, these photos don't even show the "sweet" fruits that my guy brought home this morning. (I'll show you a photo of those below). We are a family of four, but my
honey does something very kind that I greatly admire. We have three sets of neighbors and he is constantly taking his lovely food creations to our friends.

The crazy thing is, these fruits and veggies will all be gone within one week--easy!

And then there was...Gazpacho!

First ecstatic creation from the farmer's market euphoria is fresh gazpacho with bits of diced apples. Divine! Even the baby likes it. :)
Gazpacho, Baby!

RAW DIVINE GAZPACHO RECIPE

My Gazpacho Recipe is a delicious hybrid from several cookbooks. I don't really measure anything at all. But below I have attempted to structure it within the confines of a
real "recipe." I throw everything in a blender except for the diced apple (and corn kernels), which are added in the end to be the "meat."

• 6-8 Tomatoes
• 1 Cucumber (I remove the seeds)
• 1 Bell Pepper (red is the best, but today we only had green)
• 4 Cloves Garlic (actually, I use more...)
• 1/4 Cup Fresh Basil
• Olive Oil to taste
• Apple Cider Vinegar to taste
• Sea Salt to taste
• 1 Apple peeled and diced (for the meat)
• 1-2 Ears of Sweet Corn, raw kernals (didn't have them today, but a very nice addition when available!)

FINALLY, A little sweet nectar to nibble on...

A Peep Show of Exotic Fruits

• Pineapple $1.25
• Mangos, 5 for $1.00, (10), $2.00
• Babaco $.50 cents
• Oranges, 15 for $1.00
• Apples, 4 for $1.00
• Grenadias, (a sweeter version of passionfruit) 15 for $1.00
• Watermelon $2.00

In Closing...
I hope you have enjoyed the Vilcabamba Farmer's Market Porn Post. Yes, I realize how tame this is, but if simply one person can get turned on to hunger for more
fresh, organic produce... or if simply one person feels a burning desire to visit their local farmer's market, than our mission is complete. In that regards, I'm
certain our sexy exhibition has been successful.

Are you turned on? Or does fake dyed, waxy produce do it for you? Tell me what you think! I'd love to hear from you, darling...
