ABOUT THE PROGRAMS
Faculty Dual Degree Program in Engineering Intake: 50
About the Programs
The School offers a unique 5year Dual Degree program in Engineering leading to the award of Dual Degrees B.Tech.
and M.Tech; upon completion of five years of studies. Students will not be allotted any branch of specialization in
engineering at the time of admission. The first year will be devoted to the study of basic sciences and in second year, the
students will deal with fundamentals in various domains of engineering. During semester V to VIII, the students will have
the freedom to study subjects of his/her choice towards specific domain in engineering under the guidance of faculty. In
the last two semesters (IX and X), the students would do his/her specialization at Masters’ level in a particular domain of
engineering and work on a dissertation project.
Why this program?
This Program of study is expected to prepare a student to function as an innovative engineer capable of applying his
knowledge to address diverse multifaceted problems in the industry and the society in general.
Present day industries require engineerscientists with a wide knowledge in both science and engineering. The Dual
Degree Engineering program is designed to serve such a need. Further, the emphasis would be on developing
scientific and innovative spirit, instilling professional ethics and spirit of service to the society at large.
The most attractive feature of this program is the freedom given to the students to decide about domain specialization
during the semester V to VIII of their studies.
They would also have the opportunity to study crossdisciplinary subjects depending on their interest. Thus, the
students would be well prepared to contribute to current industrial challenges which require solutions that are multi
disciplinary in nature.
Special features of the program are:
B. Tech. in General Engineering with domain knowledge in
• Basic Sciences
• Electrical Engineering
• Electronics Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Civil Engineering
• Computer Science Engineering
M.Tech with specialization in the following major engineering domains
• Information, Communication & Computer Technology (ICCT)
• Power & Energy Technology (PET)
• Manufacturing Technology (MT)
• Infrastructure & Environmental Technology (IET)
• Automation, Control, Instrumentation Technology (ACIT)
The M.Tech Dissertation Project may be carried out on Industry supported problems.
The students would be helped to carry out internships during the vacations and thereby gain exposure to the industry.
CUK might seek the support of the industry in the postgraduate programs resulting in creation of avenues for
placement for the students.
A student would have the option to Graduate with the B.Tech degree after completing 8 semesters of study subject to
the approval of the University. However, all students would be encouraged to complete all the 10 semesters of the
Dual Degree Program.
A student is required to have a minimum CGPA of 6.5 to be eligible to continue into the 5th year of study for getting
the M.Tech degree.
The Dual Degree program in Engineering will have
• Teaching component (TC), comprising of Lectures (L), Tutorials (T) and Practical (P)
• Learning component (LC), comprising of internships, projects, thesis, seminars, colloquium, paper presentation,
etc.
