Warmups:

Blob Tag

- Two students are “it” they are the blob. Have everyone else spread out around the
gym
- The two players who are “it” must hold hands or link arms. They will work
together to chase and catch other people
- If a player is tagged, that player must join the blob
- When the blob reaches 4 people, the blob must split down the middle into two
pairs.
- There will now be two new blobs that continue to try and catch other players
- As each pair forms a group of 4, they split into 2’s again
- The game continues until the last person is caught or the song is done
- Equipment: None

Bobcat Den

- Students get into groups of 3

- Students get into groups of 3, two students on one side of the gym and the other
student is on the other side of the gym
- When the music starts one side of the gym’s first teammate must run to the other
side
- The aim is to get to the other side of the gym before the music stops and tag the
next person that is across the gym from you
- The teacher will stop the song periodically. Whoever does not make it to the other
side before the music stops then has to do some kind of exercise (pushups,
burpees, jumping jacks, crunches)
- Equipment: None

Cross the Ocean

- 2 students are the “sharks”, the rest of the students are “fish”
- The sharks stand in the middle of the gymnasium and the fish stand on one side
with a gator skin ball
- The sharks yell “cross the ocean” and the fish have to run to the other end of the
gymnasium and avoid being hit by the gator skin ball by the sharks
- If they are hit by the ball, they become “coral” and have to sit down
- Players still in are not allowed to jump over the coral
- The game ends when there are 2 fish left (depends on the size of class) and they
become the sharks in the next round
- NOTE: play Under the Sea from the Little Mermaid
- Equipment: Gator skin balls
Dodgeball Relay
- Students will get into teams, in those teams get into partners
- One dodgeball per team
- Partners must run with the ball between different body parts to the middle of
the gym and back without dropping the dodgeball
- If the ball drops or you cheat- can give out exercises (ex. 5 jumping jacks)
- Can have different rounds like this:
o 1st round
 Ball is pressed between the back of each partners hands to the
middle of the gym
 Ball is pressed between the elbows of each partner on the way
back
o 2 round
nd

 Ball is pressed between the partners head/ear to the middle of

the gym
 Between partners shoulders on the way back
o 3rd round
 Ball is pressed between the inside leg of each partner (like a
three-legged race) to the middle of the gym
 Ball is between partners hips on the way back

Dragon Tails

- Students are split into groups of 5

- Person in the front of the line is considered the dragon and can throw “fireballs”
(dodgeball) at other dragons’ tails
- Only the person in front can hold the dodgeballs and can only hit the person at the
end of the dragon tail
- Dragon has to stay connected by holding onto each other shoulders
- If you hit the person is at the end (the tail) they are out
- Once you’re eliminated you will go to the marked area (pylon) and you wait until
there are 5 other people to create a dragon- makes the game continuous
- To defend: other parts of the dragons can use their legs to try and shield the ball
from the tail
- Dragon always needs a tail so you can’t have less than a group of 2
- Equipment:
o Gator skin balls
o Pylon
Horsetails
- Every student gets a pinnie
- It’s a simple game of tag- every man for themselves
- The pinnie is tucked into their shorts
- If their pinnie is pulled out, the student must do some type of exercise 5 times
- Once they have completed the exercise, they are back in the game
- Equipment: Pinnies

Islanders
- Students get into teams of 4 to 5
- They get 2 gymnastics mats
- They start off on one of the mats on one side of the gym touching the wall, and
the goal is to move the mats one in front of the other. You cannot touch the
gymnasium floor.
- If someone on your team steps OFF of the mat, you must start from the beginning
- Whoever makes it to the end first, wins
- Equipment: Gymnastic Mats (2 per team)

Knee Tag
- Students will get into pairs
- The goal is for students to try to tap their partners knees
- Every time they tap their partners knees, they get a point
- Students are to try to tap their partners knees but also try to avoid being tapped
- After a few minutes, students will find another partner
- Whoever loses has to do a certain amount of exercises (Ex. 5 pushups)
- Every round student must find a new partner
- Equipment: None

Last Man Standing

- Students will be put into teams, 1 person is the medic
- One ball per team, ideally the same color ball to coordinate with the pinnies
- If you have the ball, you cannot run with the ball so you must pass it around
to your other teammates to move the ball around
- Your goal is to hit other teams with the dodgeball
- If you get hit, you sit down
- The medic can come and revive you by tapping you
- Once you have been saved by the medic you are back in the game
- If the medic is hit, they take their pinnie off and it’s a “second life” but now if
a team member is hit, they are out. BUT you or other teams can grab their
pinnie and become a medic, but can only grab the pinnie ONE time
- The last person standing from one team is the winner
- Safety:
o No head shots or you’re sitting out
- Equipment: Gator skin balls and Pinnies
Leap Frog Relay Race

- Students will line up in groups of 5 on one side of the gym

- Round one:
o Students will do the type of movement all the way to the other side of the
gym and run back and tag the next person
- Roles for first round:
o Person 1- skipping
o Person 2 and 3: leapfrog
o Person 4: 2 footed hops
o Person 5: karaoke
- When students are done, they will sit down. Whatever team is all seated first wins
- Round two:
o First 2 people from every line will rotate one line down
o Only do the exercise to the of the gym and run back and tag the next
person in line
- Roles for second round:
o Person 1: bear crawl
o Person 2: crab walk
o Person 3 and 4: leapfrog
o Person 5: side hops
- Equipment: None

Partner Dodgeball
- Students get into pairs
- Aim is to get other teams out
- If you get hit, you sit down
- The only way to come back into the game is if your partner throws you the
ball, you catch it and throw it back to your partner who also has to catch the
ball
- Once that has happened, you are back in the game
- If you both get hit, you are out
- Game goes until there is one person/one team left
- Safety:
o No head shots or you’re sitting out
- Equipment:
o Gator skin balls
Reaction Time Challenge

- Students are to get into pairs

- One person will be on one line, the other person will be on another line across
from their partner
- There will be a cone in between each pair
- The teacher will call out different parts of the body to touch with both hands
(head, shoulder, knees, toes, ears, mouth, nose, etc.)
- Students will touch the body part that is called out
- When the teacher yells GO the pairs race each other to pick up the cone. Whoever
picks up the cone the quickest is the winner
- One side of the line will then rotate down one person- new partner each time
- To make it more difficult- students will start off in the pushup plank position
- The teacher will call out different parts of the body to touch with both hands one
after the other (shoulders, knees, feet, head, etc.) to work on core strength
- When the teacher yells GO the pairs again race each other to pick up the cone.
Whoever picks up the cone the quickest is the winner
- One side of the line will then rotate down one person- new partner each time
- Equipment: Cones

Revenge tag

- Each student for their own

- Your goal is to tag as many people as you can
- When you are tagged you will sit down on the ground
- You must watch to see who tags you
- Once the person who tagged you has been tagged themselves, you are then back
in the game
- Game continues until there are only a few people still standing
- Equipment: None

Rock, Paper and Scissors Relay

- Students will get into groups of 3
- One person from the group of 3 will be on one side of the gym, the other 2 will be
on the other side of the gym
- The first student of the group 2 will run to the other side of the gym to the group
of 1. When they get to the other side, they will play a game of rock, paper,
scissors.
- Whoever wins gets to stay
- Whoever loses will run back to the other side of the gym to the next person in line
- This will continue for 2-3 songs
- Equipment: none
Rock, Paper and Scissors Challenge

- Bean bags in the middle line of the gym

- Teams of 4 or 5
- Teams will line up from one side of the gym and the other side of the gym
- First person from each team will speed walk to the bean bag which will start in
the middle of the gym and play RPS
- Whoever wins gets the bean bag and will pick it up and continue to speed walk
forward
- The person who lost will run back to their line
- The next person in line will start walking and meet the person with the bean bag
and play RPS whoever wins will continue forwards.
- Once you have the bean bag passed the others teams line you win
- Whoever loses does 10 pushups or 10 sit ups or something active
- Bean bag will then go back to the middle and it’ll start again
- Each round will be a song length long
- Equipment:
o Bean bags

Shapes

- Put a song of your choice on

- Split class into large groups (6-10)
- Run laps around the gym
- When the teacher stops the music, they will call out a shape that the students have
to create with their own bodies on the ground
- Examples to call out: square, triangle, circle, rectangle, trapezoid, octagon, etc.
- Teams physically need to lay down on the ground and create these 2-D shapes
- You can pick a “winner” for whoever made the best shape
- Whatever team does it the quickest wins the round
- Equipment: music
Games
Air Attack

- Cones will be set across the 50-yard line and across the 25-yard line (if outside. If
inside the cones can be set up on the middle line in the gym
- Students will be separated into 4 teams and there will be two teams on each side
of the 25-yard line
- The goal of the game is to get the football to the other teams end zone through
passing and catching the ball
- One student from each team will play rock, paper and scissors and whoever wins
gets possession of the ball first
- The losing team of rock, paper and scissors will now KICK the ball to the other
side so the other team can gain possession
- Once a player catches the ball, THEY CANNOT MOVE
- They must pass the ball to someone else on their team within 3 seconds
- If students do not throw the ball in those 3 seconds the other team will gain
possession
- If the ball is dropped the other team gains possession
- The ball can be intercepted but players cannot hit the ball out of the players hands,
but they can block like in basketball
- To gain a point, one player must be in the end zone and another player must
THROW the ball to that player who is in the end zone, you cannot run the ball in
the end zone
- Once a point is made, the other team gains possession
- Equipment:
o Footballs
o Pinnies
o Cones
Crazy Balls:
- Similar to kickball
- 3 bases are set up into a decent size circle with pylons
- There are 3 pylons set up on the blue line
- Between pylon 1 and 2 is where the pitcher is aiming to roll the ball to the kicker
and is called the “exit line”
- Once the player has kicked the ball, they can choose which base they want to run
to first (base to the right or to the left)
- Once the runner has ran all three bases and runs home, they must go through
pylons 2 and 3 which is called the “point line”
- Once the runner has passed this line another player in line must run (when your
team scores, player in line must run through the “exit line”
- Example- if 2 runners go through the point line pylons, then 2 players from your
line must run through the exit line to one of the bases
- Once the ball is kicked, you have to run to the next base- you can’t stay there for
as a long as you want
- To get out
o Ball is caught in mid air
o Ball hits the ceiling
o Shoe comes off
o You get hit with the ball
- Home run:
o If the ball goes above the point board
- 4 outs then switch kicking teams
- Equipment:
o Pinnies
o Gator skin ball
o Pylons for the bases
o Cones for the exit line and point line (3)
Fly Back
- Cones are set up in the middle line separating teams
- 5 red frisbees on one side in the blue, 5 blue frisbees on the other side in the blue
- Teams are trying to run to the opposite side into the blue
o If they make it to the blue, they grab a frisbee and try to throw it across to
their team, there teammates must try to catch the frisbee that is being
thrown
o If they run and get tagged, they sit down
- From there teammates can decide whether or not to run to grab a frisbee or to save
a teammate. To save a teammate they must tag their teammate. Once they have
tagged their teammate, they can go back to their half of the gym
o You can’t tag a person to come back AND go grab a frisbee. It’s one or
the other
- If the frisbee is thrown and someone on your team catches it, they must physically
bring the frisbee to the teacher to “retire” the frisbee which gives them a point.
Once all the frisbee’s are given to the teacher, that team wins
- If the frisbee is thrown and no one catches it, you simply can just toss the frisbee
on the ground back to their original side
o If the frisbee is thrown back- pushups
o It must be thrown on the ground
- Equipment:
o Frisbee’s
o Pinnies
Gator Skin Ball
- Cones are lined up down the gym on either side – this area is for runners (1 runner
per team)
- The rest of the area is for the rest of the team
- In the middle of the gym is handball- same rules apply- 3 catches and has to be to
the opposite sex. The goal is to move the ball into the basketball net for 2 points
once a goal is scored possession does change
- If at any point the ball drops the game turns into soccer- if you kick the ball into
the little soccer nets then it is 1 point
- The game returns to handball IF a goal is scored, or if you pass the ball to the
runner- they can pick it up and the game returns to handball
- Runners cannot go out of their pylon zone, other teammates cannot go into the
runner zone- runners can run up and down their zone
- Runners can’t shoot from the side lines
- Game starts with a jump ball
- Equipment:
o Cones/pylons
o Gator skin ball
o Small soccer nets
o Basketball nets
o Pinnies
Hunger Games/Fortnight
- Get students to find a partner or their “squad”
- One partner gets a pinnie and they are the medic
- Different equipment will be set into the middle of the gym in the circle. Different
equipment is a different “weapon” or way to defend yourself
- Weapons:
o Birdies: just like the dodgeballs, you can hit people with the birdies to get
them out
o Bosu ball: this is the atomic bomb- this can go through ANYTHING, no
matter what type of equipment that you have. If you are hit with this, you
are out
o 1 Cone: cone of invisibility- this cone can be used 2 times by the same
person for 5 seconds. When holding the cone on their head it means they
are invisible and anything that hits them does not count, but only for 5
seconds. Once they have held it over their head for 5 seconds, it must
come down and you are not safe anymore
o Dodgeballs: if you hit someone with the dodgeball or get hit by one, you
are out
- Defending yourself:
o Green Pinnies: Armor- this is a coat of armor. Anything (besides the
atomic bomb) that hits the armor does not count. To get this person out,
you must aim low
o Hockey blockers: armor- this is another type of armor that can be used to
block anything that is coming your way
- All students will be around the perimeter of the gym with their partner. You must
choose one player who will run into the circle and grab equipment
- When the teacher says “go” you have 10 seconds to run into the center of the gym
and grab as much equipment as you can and bring it back for you and your partner
- When the teacher says “go” again, the game begins
- Students must step away from the perimeter of the gym- they must go into the
middle of the gym
- Your aim to get as many people out as you can while protecting yourself
- If you are hit, sit on the ground and wait for your medic to come save you
- To save someone: the medic must go down on one knee and place your hand on
your partners shoulders for 3 seconds and then you are back in the game
- If the medic gets hit, they take the pinnie off, but are still in the game. It is
considered a second life
- If you get hit after your medic has been hit, you are out. Those who are out can go
sit around the perimeter of the gym
- If you hear the teacher yell “food and water” you must drop any weapon/take off
anything that protects you and then you have to run into the middle circle and go
down on your hands and knees. Once you have done that you can run back (you
don’t have to wait for the teacher to say something) and grab DIFFERENT
equipment- it can’t be the same equipment as last time
- Game continues until there is one person left
Pinball
- Pylon is set up upside down in the middle of a hula hoop on each side of the
gymnasium
- Cones are set around the perimeter of the hula hoop- this area is off limits to
everyone but the goalie
- The goalie’s job is to protect the pylon and to make sure it does not fall down.
The goalie area is between the cones and the hula hoop
- If the goalie knocks over the pylon it is still a point for the other team
- Rules are kind of like handball
o 3 passes
o 3 seconds
o 3 steps
- The goal is to knock down the upside-down pylon to earn your team a point
- Defense’s goal is to prevent the pylon from falling
o Can defend like in basketball, but cannot hit the ball out of the person’s
hands
- Dropped ball in the middle of the gym it is a change in possession
- If a player shoots the ball, another player from the other team can pick up their
rebound and shoot the ball
- Change goalie every round
- Equipment:
o Cones
o Pylons (2)
o Pinnies
o Gator skin ball (1)
o Hula hoops (2)
Rat Ball
- 4 bases are set up around the gym at the 4 corners
- Kicker:
o When a player kicks the ball, they must go through the bases and complete
TWO laps without being tagged to get a point
o Once the ball leaves the pitchers hand, runners can run
o Once the pitcher gets the ball after a kick, players cannot run and steal a
base
o If you leave a base and the pitcher has the ball you MUST run to the next
base
o Home run- above the shot clock
- To get someone out:
o Tag them with the ball
o Hit them with the ball (no shots to the head)
o Catch the ball mid air
- If the kicker:
o Kicks the ball and it hits the roof= out
o If a shoe flies off = out
- Balls off the wall and caught don’t count as an out
- 4 outs and then switch
- Pitcher:
o Nice easy ball that is ROLLED to the kicker
- Make sure when teams are switching that those who haven’t kicked yet go to the
front when they kick again. There must be a full rotation of the team before
someone can kick for the second or third time.
Wall Ball
- Similar to handball rules
- Divide class into 2 or 4 teams (depending on how big the class is)
- Divide each team into an equal number of offense and defense players

Defense:
- Defensive players must stay behind the basketball line (black line) in the goal area
and line up against this line they can move around from the black line to the wall.
- Their job is to protect the ball from hitting the wall.
- The goal starts from the edge of the gym door to the other edge of the gym door. The
Bow Valley mats counts as part of the goal.
- Offensive players are not allowed in the goal area

Offense:
- Offensive players are allowed 3 steps/3 seconds with the ball (like handball)
- Students must pass to both genders before attempting to score
- To score a goal, the ball must bounce off of the floor FIRST and then hit the wall
- Students must throw the ball before the blue volleyball line
- Once a goal is scored, ONLY the scoring team MUST switch, the offensive players
must ALL switch to defensive players, ALL defensive players MUST switch to
offense (this is a time when the scoring team is vulnerable to be scored upon)

Change in possession:
- If a team drops a ball (a scoring attempt is not considered a dropped ball) a turnover
results
- You may intercept the ball- if the ball is intercepted then possession changes
- Players can block one another like in basketball but cannot hit the ball out of the
other players hands
- To start the game: two students will do a jump ball. Whoever wins the jump ball
has possession first and the game begins right away.

Safety:
- Be aware of your surroundings
- Do not hit someone with the ball on the head
- There will be no hitting, tackling, or pushing. If any of this happens the student who
did the following will be sitting out for the remainder of the game
6 Base Baseball
Objective:
- It’s like the game kickball, but with six bases rather than three. Split the class into
2 teams. One tem starts at bat and the other team in the field with a pitcher on a
pitcher’s pylon. The batting team is working to score as many points as possible
before accumulating 3 outs. At 3 outs, the teams switch field/bat

Rules:
- The bases must be followed in the correct order
- There can be as many students on a base that can fit a toe on the pylon. Once the
pylon is full someone HAS to run
- Students must stay on their pylon when the ball is with the pitcher on the pitcher’s
pylon (no stealing bases)
- The only forced play is from kicker to 1st base
- If the entire batting team are out on the bases and the pitcher has no one to pitch
to, the batting team is automatically done and now swaps with the other team

To get someone out:

- You either can tag them with the ball or throw the ball and hit them HOWEVER
if you hit their head they get a free home run
Batters:
- Must be lined up as: boy girl boy girl or vice versa
- Everyone must kick once before you can kick for a second time
When outside:
- If you hit the uprights it’s a home run for only you, not everyone
- If you kick it passed the football field lines you are automatically out and have to
go get the ball
When inside:
- If you get the ball into a basketball basket- home run for everyone

Equipment:
- 7 pylons
- Gator skin ball
- Pinnies
