Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) is an organism that has had its DNA is altered in
some way through genetic engineering. According to Dubock, Genetically Modified Organisms
(GMOs) is an organism that have a gene from one species had been added to the genome.
Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) happen through lab techniques. At first, some scientist
says that GMOs is hazardous than other crops that produce by other methods, and also has a bad
effect in the human health and the environmental health but according to some it isn’t. Lots of
Institution says that GMO-crop inherit no risk and indeed has a benefits, UN’s Foods and
Agriculture Organization is belong to institution who says that GMO is not hazardous at all. The
purpose of developing Golden rice is to cure or to lessen the vitamin A deficiency (VAD) which
is prone to the young children and also to the pregnant women but of course this GMO crop is
available and open to everyone.

The ethical approach of GMO have a two sides, the good and the bad side, the good side
is that the “regulation”, developing GMO-crop is open to the nation, the officials which are
especially in the higher position can interfere or can meddle in the process, they can make sure
the certainty of the crop if in the near future or at the process it will cause bad effect to the
people, they are the people who have a power to allow GMO to perform by the farmers, and use
or consume by the consumer. Principle 15 also states that “In order to protect the environment
there should be a precautionary approach that shall be widely applied by states according on
what their capabilities. Second, the bad side of this is because GMOs is open to the nation the
media is also in the line, but expectedly, media isn’t a big help either. Media led the people in a
confusion state, instead of educating the people they use the media just to entertain and give
some false information about GMO-crop and because of the reason that media is everywhere and
can access anytime people especially those uneducated about biology and agriculture easily
believe in what the media tells that in their mind people create different conclusions. One of the
houses, house 3 to be specific imply that GMO-crop is more better than the organically grown
crop, the process of GMO is also easier than the process for growing organic crop but people still
ignoring the facts because they conclude that in the near future they believe that there has no
opportunity for an industry to make profits for what the people wants. In the near future the
GMO will eventually and probably made an impact or expectedly the GMO-crop of course has
an impact in the future, some countries for example the Europe, the Europe countries has no
news about the vitamin A deficiency (VAD) but they want to register Golden Rice there because
for them it will going to reduce the impact of by chance importation. And well of course, it has
also an impact in the market, once the GMO-crop is allowed in the market the demand will
increase and the supply is also increase, it became an advantage not just to the company but also
to the maker of the GMO. Also the process, GMO process can conserve the soil, no-till farming
also works.

We cannot avoid taking GMO-crop, it is already present everywhere. We didn’t know

that every day we are consuming crop that was made by GMO especially food in the fast food,
Mcdo to be specific admitted that they are using a GMO-crop and admit it or not a lot of people
choose to ate at the fast food. Over forty years no GMO has still found unsafe or harmful and
also GMO is just adding the taste, the size for example of a crop. Organic crop are safe but also
GMO- crop is also safe.
