survive in a given environment.
C. Infer that animals have body structures to protect themselves from their
enemies.

1.Greetings
Good afternoon class Good afternoon ma’am

2. Review

jumbled letters, there are four pieces
pictures that will serve as your clue for
they all portray the hidden answer

noisy or else I will not accept your
answers. Whoever got the the correct
answer first, will earn the points for its

Here’s the first one Ready ma’am

Ok. Next PAWS!

Alright. How about this? BEAK!

The last one TEETH!

SUCKING TUBE!
Very good class
What can you say about these words?

Right. When do animals use these

body parts? They are all body parts of animals
ma’am

Great. What did you learn about our They use these body parts
past lesson? whenever they are getting or
eating food.

Very good class. I’m happy that you

remember very well our past lesson. We learn that animals have
different body parts and ways that
are used for getting or eating their
3. Motivation food.
Do you wanna play again?

Okay, will you give me an example of

wild animals that you know, or the
animals that eats other animals in order
to survive?
Yes ma’am
Now, act like one of those animals that
you have mentioned, assume that you
are looking for food to eat and you are
all hungry.
I will give you a go signal and
everyone will start to find and look for Lion, Crocodile, Eagle …
the animals that was hidden inside our
room.

You only have 1 minute, GO!

How did you find the activity? Why?

If you were those hidden animals, how

will you help yourself so you won’t be
eat by the wild searching animals?
Ready ma’am!
Okay. With those ideas, how do you
think animals defend or protect
themselves from their enemies?
It was fun, exciting because we
have to find within a short given
B. Activity Proper time.

We will be having a group activity, I

need three groups to perform different
tasks. Each group must have a group
leader to select who will be assign to I will hide too, I will fight, I will
get the materials needed here infront, run,…
who will write for the group, and who
will be the group reporters so everyone
would have part and participate well
with their groups.

Is that clear?

Count off 1-3, that will serve as your

group numbers.

Is everyone now ready?

1. Setting of Standards
Before we start our activity, I want
everybody to read this

Yes ma’am
Did you understand our standard
class?
Yes ma’am
Listen now, this is for the activity of
group1

For the group II

And lastly, group III

I will give you five minutes to finish

this those task. Time starts now.

C. Post Activity

1.Presentation
Let’s hear the presentation of
groupI

Everybody clap for groupI

Now let’s hear another presentation

from groupII

Let’s clap for groupII

The last but not the least groupIII

Clap for yourselves, you all done a

great job.

2. Discussion
Many animals have the color of our
environment they live in. Some
animals protect themselves against
their enemies through protective
coloration called camouflage

What is camouflage? Kindly read

I have here some examples of Thankyou ma’am
animals that are using a protective
coloration or camouflage

A protective coloration in animals.

This adaptation allows some
animals to blend with their
sorroundings.
Aside from using a protective
coloration, here are the body parts
of animals that help them protect or
defend themselves from their
enemies
Other animals imitate the shape,
smell, taste, color and even sound
of other animals.
This behaviour is called mimicry.

I have here an example

Some animals could also imitate

sounds, like lyrebirds. It do imitate
other bird calls, They will also
copy human sounds, such as
camera shutters and car alarms.
Like an audio recorder, these birds
can “playback” almost everything
that they hear.

Listen carefully on these sounds.

(playing audio)

What animal sounds did you hear?

The sounds that you just heard

came from a lyrebird that tries to
imitate other sound of animals.

I have here a picture of a lyrebird.

Class, why do you think other

animals mimic or imitate their
fellow animals?

Right. Its their way of scaring other

animals to move away so they
wouldn’t be harm.

For other animals, they have

poisonous chemicals that they use
to protect themselves like squid,
wasps, and snake.
They try to imitate other animals
to protect themselves

And other animals that can not

protect themselves alone, they use
to protect their own kinds. Either to
scare their enemies through
forming a large group or to confuse
the predator or wild animals
planning to attack.

Animals like turtles, crabs, snails,

and oysters have protective shells
to cover their body. When they
sense danger, they keep their
bodies inside their shells.

3. Generalization
Did you understand our lesson
class?
Yes ma’am
If so, help me to complete the
dialogue balloons with the way the
animal protect itself.

How do animals protect The animals protect themselves

themselves? through camouflage, mimicry,
different body parts, as a group,
secrete chemicals and using hard
shells.
Very good. Animals protect themselves by
using their body parts such as
Class I want you to remember strong legs, paws, claws, sharp
these, everybody read please. pointed teeth, and other parts.

Other animals protect their own

kind by staying together within
hearing distance. And for animals
that cannot move fast they use
their hardshells by keeping their
bodies inside. Furthermore, others
secrete chemicals.

4. Application

5. Value infusion
Class, why do you think it is
important for us to know the body
structures and the way of animals
in protecting themselves?

D. Evaluation
True or False
Tell whether the statement is true,
otherwise false.

1. Camouflage is a protective
coloration in animals that allows
them to blend with their
sorroundings.
2. Horse use its tail to fight and
protect itself from other animals.
3. Animals who cannot move fast use
their hard shells to protect
themselves.
4. Other animals protect their own
kind by leaving
Each other far from hearing
distance.
5. Hoverfly mimic a honey bee to
scare and protect itself from its
predator or animals that eat insects
like frogs
