COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course Career Exploring and Planning designed to summarize self-assessed interests, skills, values
and personality, and to help students in creating a record of the different alternative occupations and
training programs. The course will be useful to help students comparing career options when it is time to
narrow down choices. The course also serves as a valuable reference tool when discussing plans with a
career counselor, academic advisor and faculty. The contents of the course takes the approach that career
decision making should take into account the full context of one’s life, …i.e., personal talents and
attributes, life plan and lifestyle preferences, the different roles you plan as you move through different
stages of your life, and the obstacles you might encounter while making decisions.
COURSE OBJECTIVE
• To make students able to understand their own career/ academic aspirations
• To develop positive attitudes Connect career aspirations with whole ‐person development
and life ‐long learning
• To help students to develop a deeper understanding of theory and research in the area of
career exploring and planning and to demonstrate how such knowledge is pertinent for the
effective management of their career.
• To give students in-depth understanding of career issues that will help them to become a
successful employee and/or leader, and will assist them with long-term career goals and
aspirations.
• To produce business graduates equipped with related knowledge and necessary skills.
• To train and develop young minds to know the business issues as business manager
• To develop analytical thinking on the business challenges and generate logical responses.
• To expose the students to the changing business environment in Pakistan and abroad
• To increase the pool of socially responsible business graduates in the society.
• To develop and inculcate personality traits through soft skills.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

After having completed this course successfully, participants will be able to:

Career exploration begins at an early age. As students enter at university level, they have an
increased interest in and need for career exploration. Students become ready to gain an
understanding of their own interests, skills, and attitudes; career alternatives and the ever-
evolving requirements of the workplace; and the relationship of school and lifelong learning to
career success.
After studying this course students will be able to “create their futures” by:
• Getting aware of their personal characteristics, skills, interests, and aptitudes
• Developing a positive attitude toward work
• Seeing the relationship between personal choices, academic performance, and future
opportunities
• Becoming aware of the many career options available and an understanding that their options
are not limited by gender, socioeconomic status, or ethnicity
• Expanding their technology skills as they search for and analyze career information
• Getting opportunity to develop and use problem-solving and decision-making skills in
authentic contexts
• Developing appropriate social skills, personal values, and self-esteem
• Making able to match self interests with career opportunities and to understand the academic
and experience qualifications needed to pursue various opportunities. In addition, course
integrates important business knowledge and practices into career exploration.
