MONOTORING - Vegetation
- Erosion
Monotoring is a key component for measuring the success of the reclamation - Infiltration
- Wildlife
On the surface of the reclamation, it is set monotoring points and they are used to measure the elevation of the cover. About
one year later, biologists return and measure that elevation again. This allow them to understand how the cover has moved
over time. The cover system can decrease, due to the erosion, but it can also increase, as more materials move to that side.
As they evaluate the vegetation, cientists look for a variety of plant species, as well as their densities, and then they are compa-
red to a reference área, which hadn’t been disturbed by mining.
With responsible planting and environmental management, wildlife, miners and visitors to this área can come and enjoy the
reclamation programme.
