INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background
Health is defined as well being of an individual physically, mentally and socially. Siddha
system of medicine aims at delivering healthy mind and soul through holistic approach.
Soundful mind is attained by having a soundful healthy body. To mainrain heathy body,
siddha system of medicine has framed “PINIYANUGA VIDHI” in which various gateways
to healthy lifestyle has been mentioned. One such thing is “ENNAI MUZHUKKU”. It had
been practiced by all kind of people in ancient days which has now been dropped due to
lifestyle chamges. The study is aimed at analyzing the awareness and practices of Ennai
muzhukku among the patients of Out-patient department- Government siddha medical
college and hospital, Palayamkottai.

2. Objective

Primary objective
To assess the awareness of Ennai muzhukku among general public of out-patient
department.

Secondary objective
To find out the factors influencing the practice of Ennai muxhukku.

3. STUDY DESIGN

3.1 Study population

Patients attending Out patient department will be selected from Government siddha
medical college and hospital, Palayamkottai.

 Primary data will be collected using questionnaire and secondary data will be collected
from texts, journals, magazines and other sources.

4.1 Institutional screening committee approval

The proposal will be submitted to the Screening committee to get the approval.

5. ETHICAL ISSUES
5.1 The data from the out-patients using questionnaire will be kept confidentially. The patient
will be informed about the study.

5.2 Informed consent will be obtained from the patients, explaining in the understandable
language to the patients.

5.3 This study involves only the necessary enquiries.

5.4 No other unwanted enquiries will be done.

5.5 There will be no infringement on the rights of the patient.
