A Knitting Legacy". Below are the charts and instructions for knitting the swatches shown on page 35.

To make a swatch, cast on 21 sts with A. Knit 2 rows. Rep rows 1–12 of chart 3 times, then rows 1– 6 once more.
With A, knit 2 rows then bind off.

To make swatch, cast on 27 sts with B. Knit 2 rows. Rep rows 1–12 of chart 3 times, then rows 1 and 2 once
more. With B, knit 2 rows then bind off.

Reading Mosaic Charts (in rows, using garter stitch)

1. One row of the chart represents two rows of knitting. Read the RS rows from right to left and the WS rows from left to right.
Only one color is worked over 2 rows, slipping the other color.
2. Chart is worked in garter st (knit every row). The letters at the RH side of the chart represent the color you will be knitting and
also corresponds with the first st and last st of the row. The other color will be slipped on those 2 rows.
3. When slipping sts, slip them wyib on RS rows and wyif on WS rows. Therefore, the yarn is always carried on WS of the work.
4. For ease in knitting, place st markers between each repeat.
