I. Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to:
1. Define what is position paper.
2. Identifies issues in which a position paper may be effectively used in our present society.
3. Think of an issue in their community and discuss among their group mates about their
stand/position on the issues.

A. Preliminary Activities
-Greetings.
-Classroom cleanliness
-Checking of Attendance
B. Motivation
-Flash some images depicting different issues in our country. Like prostitution, Same sex
marriage, and Drugs. Let the learners guess the different issues through flashing the
pictures on the screen. Guided questions will be given by the teacher.

C. Lesson Proper: The teacher discusses the following with the integration of learner’s
idea/knowledge through the use of PowerPoint presentation.

V. GENERALIZATION: A Position Paper is an essay or report which expresses a position,
conclusion, or recommendation concerning a contested issue or undecided question. The
purpose is to generate a support on an issue. It describes a position on an issue and the
rational for that position. It is based from facts that provides a solid foundation for your
arguments.

VI. EVALUATION: Let the learners do the following:


1. Define Position Paper.
2. What the techniques in writing a Position Paper.

VII. Assignment: Write an introduction of your position paper about bringing back Death
Penalty in the Philippines.
