93AF600 Series Cable Splice Kits – 12/20(24) kV

Product Information & Ordering Guide

1.0 Product Description

3M 93AF600 Series QSE Cable Splice Kits are designed
to accommodate metallic-shielded power cables rated up
to 24 kV in three-core armored or non-armored and
single-core armored or non-armored configurations. 3/C Metallic Shielded Armored Cable

Each splice kit is supplied with all the materials required

for making one 1/C or one 3/C medium-voltage cable
splice. QSE Kits can be ordered with or without
connectors. 3/C Metallic Shielded Non-armored Cable

Cold shrink QSE Splice Body Assemblies form the

electrical foundation for 93AF600 Series Kits. The cold
shrink delivery system, invented by 3M, has repeatedly 1/C Copper Tape Shielded Cable
proven itself to be unsurpassed as a positive and reliable
electrical insulating and moisture-sealing system for
power cable primary insulation interfaces. QSE Series
cold shrink splice bodies are produced from a 3M-
developed EPDM rubber compound with high dielectric 1/C Wire Shield Cable
strength and excellent thermal properties. Each splice
body is factory-expanded and loaded onto a removable
plastic support core to form a splice body assembly, as
provided in a typical splicing kit. When the splice body 1/C JCN Cable
assembly is positioned over a properly prepared
connector, the plastic support core is removed allowing
the splice body to shrink down and form a watertight seal Features and Benefits
to the cable primary insulation surface.

2.0 Physical & Electrical Properties

3M 93AF600 Series QSE Splices are approved for use on Construction
electrical power cables that have a continuous operating
temperature rating of 90o C and an emergency overload
temperature rating of 1300 C. A cable splice constructed High-K Insulation Semi-con Shell
from a 93AF600 Series QSE Kit is rated for use on
electrical systems up to 12/20(24) kV and will meet or
exceed the specification requirements listed in CENELEC
Standard HD 629. The current rating of the splice meets High Dielectric Constant (K) Layer - Re-aligns electric
or exceeds the current rating of the cable onto which it is field flux to establish a lower stress distribution of voltage.
installed. The QSE Splice Impulse (BIL) rating is 150 kV, Primary Insulation Layer – Replaces cable primary
which exceeds the BIL performance requirement of insulation segment removed to allow for connector
CENELEC HD 629 under the 12/20(24) kV voltage class installation. Bonded Semi-conductive Shell - Replaces
category. the cable semi-con insulation screen.
