SECT'ION A

I A cylindrical tank of capacity 7 lac litres is rcsting on good unyeilding ground.

The dcpth of tank is limited to 5m. A free board of 300 mm may be provided.
The wall and the base slab are cost integrally. Design the tank using M20 concrcte
and Fe 415 grade steel. Sketch all thc detail. 13

oL
2. Design a Rectangular water tank of capacity 5 lac litrcs resting on firm ground
and having rigid base. Material grades are M30 and Fe 415. Height of tant is
restricteded to 5.0 m. Sketch all detail. 13

3 (a) Derive fiom I't principle, the following stress block parameters
(i) Total compressive force 'C'.
(ii) PosiLion of 'C' from exLreme compression fibre. 10

AU-2638 P.T.O.
(b) Dcrive the expression for limiting depth of N.A. Ior Fe 250 steel 4

OR

4. Design a roof slab for a hall 20 m x 9 m (c/c), if columus are provides along
the length of hall at 4 m c/c. The super-imposcd load on slab is 4 kN/m'. The
width of beams supporting slab is 300 mm. Usc M:20 mix and Fc : 415 steel.
Sketch rll detail. 14

5 Design a 3.5 m X 5.0 m c/c size intemal slab panel to carry an imposed service
load of 3 kN/m!. Use tr420 mix and Fe : 415 grade stcel sketch detail. 13

( )tt

() (a) Enlist various types of staircascs. 2

(b) Design a dog-legged staircase for a building with the following data:
(i) Floor height = 3

(ii) Riser= 150 mm

(iiil Tread - 300 mm
(i\) Width of lunding = 1.2 m(Irom beam centle)

Asiur,re tllc ilight to bc supponed by 200 mm wide bcams at cxteme edges

,rl tht, ir.rrdurg Use lvt : 20 mix and Fe : 415 stcel. Dtaw all the dctail. lake
inrpor;cd sr-:r'vice load as 3 kN/nrz and floor finish as I kN/m2. ll
SECTION B

Calculate mornent of resistance of a doubly reinforced 'l'.beam section having

flange width = 1000 mm. depth of llange = 120 mm, width of web = 250 mm,
overall depth = 500 mm, area of tension reinforcemenl = 2700 mmz, area of
cornplcssion reinforcement = 900 mm2, effective cover to both the steel=somm,
Use M : 20 mixe and Fe : ,115 stcel. 14

oR

8. A cantilever beam of 3 m clear span is subjected to an ultimate UDL of intensity

50 kN/m with sell--weight tluoughout. Use overall beam size of 230 x 450 mm.

AU-2638 2
Dcsign the cantilcycr using M: 20 mix and Fc:415 stcel. Use limi( state
method and assumc effcctive cover of 50 mm to main stecl. Draw all detail.

9. Design an Rc reactangular column for following data ;

(i) Factored axial load = 2200 kN.

(ii) Factorcd moment about major axis = 180 kN/m
(iii) Siz€ of column = 400 mm x 600 mm.
(iv) of column = 5.0 m
Unsupported length

(v) Usc M : 25 mix and Fc : 415 stecl.

(vi) Afiangemcnt of steel = equally on four sides.

(vii) Support condition = Effectively hcld in position and restrained against rotation
at both t}Ie ends. 13

OR

10. (a) Mention various types of footings. 2

(b) Dcsign an isolated footing for a 400 rnm x 900 mm column subjectcd to
an axial load of 3000 kN. Assume SBC of soil is 500 kN/mz. Use
M 25 mix and Fc :415 stecl. Thc footing depth is sloping (trapezoidal) Use
limit state method. II

ll. Design a grid slab for halt of size 12 m x 18 m. The working live load on slab
is 4 kN/m2. Use M20 mix and Fe 415 grade steel. 13

12. (a) Exptain with neat sketches various ductile design provisions for beams and
