ACTIVITIES
Outside of school and work actives, I’ve spent a lot of time learning on my own. In summer 2017, I
began going places outside of New Jersey. I ventured to Acadia National Park in Maine and Shenandoah
National Park in Virginia to get an on hands feel of the environments there. In summer 2018, I went
west to Rocky Mountains National Park and Grand Canyon National Park. In the Rocky Mountains, I
joined a forest ranger on a tour to find moose and learn about their behavior. Staying in nearby lodging
and attending an open group, we’d wake up early the morning to see them come out in their natural
environment. In the Grand Canyon, I attended many open presentations and seminars from forest
rangers and field workers. The fires were occurring at the time and we learned about control, how they
effect the environment, and what it all means. I camped for many of these trips and visited other
national parks where I only observed on my own but still learned as much as I could. Outside of this, I
spend my time at the beaches in New Jersey where I’m trying to learn to surf.
