Transition to Preschool!

Child/Tama Hini: Hosna. Teacher/ Kaiako: Naema. Date13h, June/Pipiri,

2019.

Assalamu-Alaykum Hosna, after 15th March incident I took some time off to
help my sister and community who lost their loved ones. It is so nice to come
back and to see all of you at An-Nur preschool.
Hosna you will be two on the 13th of July this year,
therefore you have been spending more time in the
preschool rather than in the nursery so you could get
more familiar with the over two area and its routines.
During these last few weeks I have been noticing you
settling into preschool. You have been learning routines
and with some support sitting well at the kai table and
learning alongside the other children how to use tongs
and after taking your share of fruit, to pass the plate to
others.
Hosna, your recent pathways for this term is how to play
with others. I noticed you love playing outside, today I
saw you picked up a ball and looked around to see if you could play with
someone. You saw Amin climbing up on the bench and you followed him.
When he stood up on the bench you were not very sure whether to follow
until I mentioned how our feet should be on the ground as benches are for
sitting. I noticed a big smile on your face as you got the positive message. You
were very happy when he came down from the bench, you did not take a
second before throwing the ball toward him to catch and had a big giggle when
he threw it back to you. I noticed you went to get the ball and repeated your
actions and threw that ball to him again. You had fun playing, throwing and
trying to catch the ball with Amin.
What is happening?
Observation shows Hosna, you have been enjoying the preschool environment
and have developed a great sense of belonging and confidently played both
inside and outside in the playground. It is evident that your sense of belonging
is giving you the comfort to initiate and maintain your play with other children.
How can we extend this learning?
Hosna, staff will continue to provide you time to transition to preschool on a
regular basis so you can get more familiar with the preschool environment and
get comfortable with the routines, teachers and children.
