API Compliance Exceptions

API Compliance

The purchaser's data sheet is the most important document to have when quoting pumps to API 610.

Various paragraphs within API 610 impose requirements on how the pump and/or accessories are to be selected and/or
sized which are not in line with the product specification for the 3640. Depending on the operating conditions, other
paragraphs may require special features that require extra pricing. API 610 also contains many "bulleted" (·) paragraphs.
These bulleted paragraphs indicate that a decision is required or further information is to be supplied by the Purchaser.

When quoting pumps to API 610, care must be taken to ensure that all the proper extra prices, comments and
clarifications are included in the proposal.

The pump pricing pages contain an "API 610 Compliance" price adder. This adder is to meet the additional requirements
necessary to have the pump and baseplate comply with API 610 11th Edition.
Performance testing, mechanical seals, couplings, and piping plans also have additional requirements in order to comply
with API 610, and these are listed on the respective price pages. The cost of these items is not covered in the "API 610
Compliance" adder in 3640B1. Unless otherwise mutually agreed to by the customer, in writing or on the API Data
Sheets, the API 610 compliant versions of these items must be included in the pricing if the pump is to comply with API
610.

Following is a summary of the major items included in the compliance adder:

− Preparation for shipment suitable for 6 months outdoor storage. This includes metal flange covers, rust preventative
on machined exterior surfaces, protection of exposed shafts and coupling hubs, and protection of bearing housings
against the entry of moisture and dirt.
− Tagging or stamping of auxiliary connections to correspond with information on pump outline drawing.

Notes:
1. Renewable Impeller wear rings are required for all material of construction.
2. Standard configuration for 3640 is Gould's Standard Clearances. If "API Compliance" is selected for configuration,
performance curves must be for API Clearance Efficiencies.
