PROJECT PLAN

EXPRESSION MODULE
HAILEY ROBERSON & 11/14/2019

DESCRIPTION
My philosophy of education is to engage students in their
classwork and excite them in coming to school every day. To spark
uniqueness and cheerfulness in young, elementary school students
of all backgrounds so that they look forward to attending school and
are able to participate in various hands-on activities, classroom
discussions, projects, and interesting lessons. Educators must be
fun-loving, excited, and compassionate towards students, other
teachers, and staff. In doing this, the teacher’s energy will radiate
onto the students and lead them to great things through their
schooling. It is important for students to feel safe and comfortable in
their classroom as well.

PROJECT MEDIUM (MULTIMEDIA)

For my project, I have chosen to do a website. This is an
effective medium to represent my ideas because it can hold many
different aspects such as, text, pictures, videos, and much more. The
user can click on different tabs to see different sections of the
website and view pictures and ideas of my philosophy of education.
Also, a website is not limited. It can be widespread and can be
personalized to whomever is building it.
POTENTIAL BENEFITS OF MULTIMEDIA

A few benefits to using this to convey my TEL 111 Philosophy

of Education are that it will be easy to access for my future teaching
endeavors. If I were to want to revisit my ideas and inspiration for
teaching, I could easily search my website and access this
information. Also, ideas are likely to change throughout time. With
this website, I could easily modify or add to what is already there.
Whoever would like to see my philosophy would also be able to view
it and see the kind of educator I strive to be in the future.

POTENTIAL CHALLENGES OF MULTIMEDIA

The challenges to using a website are limited knowledge and

experience with website building and minor glitches with internet
availability and wireless access. When doing this project and
continuing to revisit my website in the future, I plan to widen what I
already know about websites and how to create them. This is
important because my website could keep growing throughout my
career. There is not much one can do about wireless access
problems. Planning ahead and being aware of what potential errors
may come in are a few ways to prevent things from happening.

ARTIST STATEMENT

In ten years, I hope to be an elementary school teacher

working with passion and a love for students and education!
Currently, my philosophy of education surrounds students and
encouraging them to view school in a cheerful way and to express
themselves uniquely through school without being afraid or self-
conscious. Ten years from now, this will still applicable in my
classroom because these aspects are so crucial to student success. I
will be able to use the website I’ve created to remind myself of these
values and create a welcoming classroom atmosphere.

I vision my classroom ten years into the future having assigned

seating, but different styles and arrangements throughout the school
year. This is important because students will be able to connect with
different peers each time they are switched, and when the desk
styles are changed it provides an interesting new outlook. My lessons
will be interactive and fun! The opposite of the “banking method,”
where students are expected sit quietly and soak in every ounce of
information that the teacher provides. I, the educator, will provide
the lessons and facilitate what happens, but let the students explore,
discuss, and understand the material using hands – on activities and
interesting methods. This is crucial for students to enjoy coming to
school and feel that the information is not a burden! This comes
straight back to my TEL 111 Philosophy of Education. The way
students should be a part of the lesson, not just be forced to
understand from being lectured. Teachers should be excited and

happy when they arrive to school each day. Students must feel cared
for and loved when they step into the classroom. In ten years, my
classroom will be a place where students know they are welcome to
come as they are without feeling uncomfortable or unwelcome. All
students, from any background will be accepted and leave knowing
they are wanted.

All of these classroom characteristics reflect my views and

educational philosophy. This is necessary in order to be a successful
educator. You must know your goals and aspirations and align those
with everyday classroom activities. I am so excited for this chapter of
my life, as well as that in ten years!

Additional Comments (optional)

This project has really opened my eyes for what is to come in my

career. It has made me think and prepare, but also has built more
excitement!
