Research Proposal

1. Statement of Purpose
Our purpose is to find out detailed information about the marketing system (based
on Investopedia, marketing is the activities that involves promotion, or selling a product
which also includes advertising as well as delivering the product goods to the customers)
in Sekolah Victory Plus. We would like to know how the school is able to persuade
students to study there and how they were able to scout and persuade teachers to work at
that school. We are going to collect our data and information from the students and
teachers by conducting interviews on this specific subject.

2. Description of the Problem

We need data to support our research background in order to run the research on
SVP’s marketing. Without researching, we won’t be able to analyze our needs for the
In-depth Interview. Based on Hardwick Research, In-depth interviews can last from 30
minutes up to 60 minutes each. And because the interview consumes a lot of time, it is
easy for the interviewer to forget their interview flow. This is why it is necessary to do
some planning and research to dig better and deeper information about the respondents.

3. Literature Review
An in-depth interview is the type of research we would like to conduct. According
to B2B International, this In-depth interview is a type of interview using a qualitative
method. It is a research method that offers and provides high-quality information about
the respondent’s information, behaviours, perceptions, and data through a face-to-face
questioning session. This type of research is usually used for jobs that involve designs.
However, we would like to use this research method to better understand people’s
perspectives about marketing in Sekolah Victory Plus (SVP).

4. Description of your Project

Here is our plan for this project. Based on our research and understanding of
marketing and In-depth interview, we are able to come up with questions for our
interview such as below with some general information of the targeted audience as well
as the research grounds we chose.

- Target audience:
- 3 Secondary Students (mix gender of male and female, any grade, selected with at
least first year to fourth year of experience in SVP )
- 3 Secondary Teachers (mix gender of male and female, any subject, selected with
at least with first year to 4 years of teaching experience in SVP)
- Allocated place: Sekolah Victory Plus
- Allocated time limit: 10-15 minutes/audience

● Secondary Teachers:
a. Where did you get to know SVP from?
b. How did you end up teaching in SVP?
c. What made you interested to teach SVP?
d. What did you have to prepare to be accepted by SVP?
e. What does SVP offer you in return that you would like to teach SVP?
f. Did you approach the school or did the school approach you to teach in SVP?
i. What methods did the school use to contact you?
ii. How did you approach SVP?
g. What did you expect from this school before you moved to SVP?
h. Who contacted you to teach in SVP and what did he/she said to persuade you to
teach SVP?
i. Exactly how long does it take for you to agree to teach in SVP? Why?
j. Did you try to reconsider teaching in other school else than SVP?
k. What are your thoughts on how SVP scout teachers (e.g. I decided to teach in
SVP because the offers made were persuasive)?
l. What are the questions SVP ask to you during your interview?
m. What is your image about SVP before entering the school?
n. What do you think SVP marketing team lacks to persuade teachers to teach SVP?
o. Does the advertisement of SVP suit the reality?
p. (Follow up questions according to the questions above)

● Secondary Students :
a. What are the current pros and cons of SVP in your opinion?
b. What made you want to study in SVP?
c. What was your image of SVP before you moved in to SVP?
d. What did you expect from SVP before you move in to SVP?
e. What are your image of SVP now?
f. Did your transition from you previous school to SVP went smoothly?
g. Was the entrance exam hard for you?
h. Did the advertisement of SVP suit the reality?
i. (Follow up questions according to the questions above)

5. Data Collection
In summary of the interview questions above, the point is to ask SVP Students
and Teachers regarding the marketing strategy the school’s marketing strategy use. The
reason why there are similar repeated questions such as “how were you accepted” or
“how were you hired” is because we want specific answers from the respondents. We
want to make sure that the respondent also did not lie or manipulate their answers.
Because according to Verywell Mind, we can detect lying through repeated question to
see whether the respondent answer the question similarly to the question we previously
asked or not. We also input a lot of other following questions in order for us to get a
clearer image on the respondent’s case. And from there we can also get a clearer image in
the respondent’s personality which will later help us build a following question to ask
them further about the topic.
We won’t be able to do an interview for 30-60 minutes long. Which is why, we
will try to reduce the time to about 10-15 minutes long, also considering the respondent’s
situation and willingness to do the interview. We also reduce the time due to our lack of
experience so we would like to reduce the error possibilities in our research. There are no
gender limit for the respondents and class or subject limitations. However, the students
and teachers interviewed shall have maximally 4 years of experience in SVP because
they understand the school well and still have quite the memory of their interviews. We
limit the respondents to 3 students and 3 teachers because according to study.com, in
order for our investigation result to be valid, we should repeat our investigations. 3 times
is the ideal repetition needed. To make sure that there will be respondents, we will first
talk with people we know from the Secondary student and teachers department to ask if
they are willing to do the interview. When the time and date are allocated, we will start
the interview. In order for the result to be valid, we must have evidence. We would like to
record the interview in a form of video. We chose video as a form of evidence because
videos show not only the image but also voice as well as the duration of the interview.

6. Data Analysis
After obtaining the interview results, we would need to compile the answers into a
single table in a summarized version of the result. The analyzing will come up after the
compiling of the interview result. Under the table, we will later make an analysis and
conclusion from the interview result we got. We will also upload some evidence from the
interview into the table we make. Remember that our research question is about Sekolah
Victory Plus’s marketing system in hiring teachers and inviting students to come and
study in that school.
