Final Reflection Paper

Looking back from all of my reflections from the past assignments, I didn’t really see any

similarities or patterns. I felt as if all of the projects were different and pulled creative sides from

not only myself but others within the class. Something that I realized was that the reflection

questions were the exact same for all the projects, but they were created from such a different

spectrum that it fit each one and allowed me to write a different response for all of the question.

One that stood out to me was the expression module reflection because that project was

meaningful to me and got me to reflect on my future career as a teacher.

One assignment that I particularly had trouble with was the communication module

project where we had to film podcasts. Filming the actual podcast was quite easy and I originally

thought that was going to be the hardest part because we had to speak for so long but after

finishing the assignment I realized that editing the project was the hardest part. I have to give

credit to professional podcasters because editing those are not easy. It was hard for me to add

background music that transitioned smoothly into the next clip without sounding choppy. It was

also difficult finding music that wasn’t copyrighted and then downloading it to use. I think I

ended up just using the editing app that I had to use music because it was too difficult for me.

Obviously with all these challenges I still was able to complete the project and figure out certain

edited problems. Using the apps that you showed us in class really helped me a lot.

At the beginning of the semester I was super nervous to be in this class because I am not

good with technology at all. I never expected this class to be so fun and teach me new valuable

tools that I can use in my time at college and even in the classroom. We learned how to code, use

excel, power point, and how to film/edit podcasts. Something that shocked me was that this was

a class for the teaching college. I didn’t even realize that when I first started the class because I

didn’t see the correlation between them but after completing the semester I can definitely now

see it. It made me think more abstractly when figuring out how this technology can tie back into

the classroom. I think my mindset on technology has changed because I actually learned useful

tips for using it and took a class the specifically related it back to the education field.

For the first assignment, I approached it with only the use of the outline. I heavily relied on

it to complete it. I think the podcast was the first assignment that allowed us to make something

and I remember only looking back to my notes and outline on it to actually achieve the final

results. While I was recording I even needed a script to follow because I didn’t feel confident

completing it. On the last assignment I didn’t even use my outline. I knew exactly what to do and

had the creative mind to do so from the past several assignments. I even took it a step further and

used a different website started that we didn’t talk about to ensure my full knowledge on website

making. It’s amazing to see how much I’ve grown over the course of one semester.

I sat next to Asianna and she was very creative and always thought outside of the box.

Every time I peer edited or reviewed her work, I always saw something in her work that I wanted

to incorporate in mine. For her expression module assignment she made a painting to express her

teaching philosophy and found a way to incorporate technology and everything she believes into

being a great educator. It’s quite hard for me to think of project ideas, so from my classmates, I

want to start thinking of projects that are totally out of my comfort zone so I can get a completely

different perspective on the subject and get to learn about technology that I wouldn’t really pick.

I basically just want to stop playing it safe and take a risk to enhance my learning. Since this

class is over and we don’t have any more assignments for me to do this, I can always take this

mindset into some of my other classes in the future.

Thinking back to all of my module projects I would definitely want to re-do my construction

module project which was the interactive power point. I didn’t understand the project as well and

picked a topic that was really hard to do. If I could do the project again, with a better

understanding of what was asked, I would make an app that helped users pick what song to listen

to. I originally did an app to see what job career you should go into and it was fun to make but I

had difficulties getting the app to work because what I thought of was too advanced. I love music

and I think that would be such an amazing project since I listen to such a vast amount of different

music. I could’ve approached this assignment a different way with a new topic.

One goal that I have after finishing this semester and looking onward to the future is to take

these skills that I learned and actually use them and incorporate them into my daily life.

Professor Lewallen taught us very useful skills that would benefit us greatly as future educators

and I want to be able to use them. Another goal of mine that was previously stated was wanting

to branch out more to new technologies that I might not want to explore. This expands my

knowledge and could allow me to find new ways to help me accomplish certain things.

Exploring new things will help me be more aware of the world and find new discoveries. For my

next semester I want to think more creatively when thinking of possible assignments I can do.
