Chapter 1

Introduction

Mobile devices are shaping the future of computing from business

communication, to social and entertainment, mobile apps solution, as the modern era

of technology innovation of technology take place. Mobile technology is the most used

devices nowadays. Through technology, things become easier because of these

people continuously keeping on producing more advance mobile technology like

laptops, mobile phone, tablets and even a smart watch or smart phones.

Computing technology have advanced the mobile phone has become a mobile

computing platform. Instant messaging, calendar, weather, clock, scheduling

functionally, browsing and media capabilities like video possible uses of these in one

mobile devices. The mobile technologies are not just cellular communication but it can

be help in education like e-learning technology.

Moreover, E-learning technology is electronic learning that can be educate

readers on viewers through electronic devices, some of e-learning tools are Youtube,

Google, Yahoo and others platform that relating to e-learning that can be help for

everyday living. Therefore, different Android-based phones may have different

graphical user interfaces (GUI’s) even though they use the same OS. Android phones

typically come with several built-in application.

Mobile devices have potential as educational tools in the form of self-

assessment because it can be used in giving some information or knowledge for their

school. Mobile are used to communicate to entertain and it also created to gather

some information. Mobile devices are used by teachers and mostly by student for

more sources of information thus making more easier than using books from

searching information that you needed.

The researchers found out in Guronasyon foundation Inc. National High School

that the teachers are using paper sheets and record book for attendance and putting

school information which may cost higher by consuming papers and ink, not only for

consuming papers and ink but it can be prone to damage and being misplaced, there

are so many ways that can cause of damage like fire or natural disaster that could

loss of all important information of the student. It is also hard to make change, every

time that the teacher wants to make change for updates about student information,

teacher need to have a new copy. Moreover, it can also consume a lot of time and it

take a minute to hunt down where's the student information that depending how well

the organization is.

Applying the changes through innovation, Guronasyon Foundation Inc.

National High School will have its own Mobile Application that can change the way by

eliminating the use of paper/manual writing of student information and attendance of

each student that their handling. Having this kind of system, the researchers

conceptualize a program that will have another way for the teachers on how they can

observe advisee and their attendance without the use of paper works.

Furthermore, the researchers believe that mobile application for Guronasyon

Foundation Inc. National High School will benefit the school itself. Particularly the

students and teachers who will recipients of this mobile application. The researchers

chose mobile application to provide an easy access of information about school and

attendance of the students even without access on the internet.

The main objective of the researchers is to have an easy access regarding the

school’s information such as Vision/Mission, contact number of their parents and

teachers and policies and regulation and to know the latest information about the

school. Parents and teachers communicate each other and to update the parents

regarding of their children’s grade through cellphones such as, communication apps

like messenger, and other messaging apps just at the end of their fingertips and one

click away by using their phones. The researchers chose Mobile Application because

it is the most used or popular computer that can use anytime anywhere. Mobile

Devices has many purposes that can really help a lot.

Problem Definition

Attendance Editing Problems – easily helps management to analyze student’s

attendance details as per requirements. It provides summarized attendance report

very quickly at any point of time.

Prone to Damage – to prevent misplaced manual document filing means you are

placing faith in the people handling the files.

Inefficient Document Transportation – to compile files, records and paperless.

Objectives of the Study

Generally, the objective of the study is to developing an application for

Guronasyon Foundation Inc. National High School (GFINHS). The application has

several fields such as homepage, info about the school, Mission and Vision,

enrollment Process, Info of students, Flag Ceremony Song, Do's and Don’ts, and

Student Calendar.

The researchers used IPO Model in developing the proposed an application

that contains plans, analyze, design, build, test, and deploy.

In Planning, the researchers define the system to be an application, “Android

Mobile School Info App for Guronasyon Foundation Inc. Binangonan”. In Analyze, the

researchers gather the requirement and prioritize it.

The researchers aim to know the most effective ways of sorting and managing

the school and student information, Moreover, the security of data gathered can

manipulate by others, the researcher proposed a security feature that can protect the

data gathered from manipulation and deletion of the attendance, it prevents user from

unauthorized access to the system and securing confidential information from the

authorized user. In addition, the researcher promotes paperless an eco-friendly that

paper is eliminated or greatly reduce, it converting paper into digital form this process

known as digitization, it can save money, boost productivity, make the attendance

easier and less time consuming.

Scope of the Study

The researchers develop an android application for the GFINHS. it was

conducted at Guronasyon foundation Inc. National High School located at National

Road Brgy. Biliran, Binangonan, Rizal during the first semester of University of Rizal

System Binangonan School year 2019-2020.

the researchers are planning to develop an application for it would be a great

help to the people concern in accessing information about the school and its

promotion. There was a different imperative in developing an application. These

elements are: title page, body of the page, page length and size, images and image

map. The application has several fields such as homepage, info about the school,

Mission and Vision, enrollment Procedures, Info and students, Flag Ceremony Song,

Do's and Don’ts and Student Calendar. The proponents use Android Studio as their

scripting language because of several controls that allows the programmer to create

a school info application.

This study is limited only in giving and retrieving information about the

Guronasyon Foundation Inc. National High School. The study is applicable to people

who works on the school like the teachers and for the students who are studying in

the school.

Beneficiaries and Significance of the Study

Students and teachers - mobile applications are very useful for providing

interactive methods of communication, such as:

- Pop-up Notification and instant alerts in Announcement

- Absentees notes

- Paperless

- Avoid manipulation of gathered data

- Monitoring of Student absentees

- Inform incoming students

Guardian allow guardians notice in case of emergency

Future Researchers. The future researchers may develop a mobile

application that help students to know important information.

Setting of the Study

Guronasyon Foundation Inc. National High School was established in 2007

aiming to diminish the increasing enrollment at its mother school, Vicente Madrigal

National High School. It was named after the foundation of Congressman Michael

John Duavit who donated the land where Guronasyon Foundation Inc. National High

School is constructed. It started its operation on June 4, 2007, and on June 15, 2007,

the school was officially separated from its mother school.

The Subjects of the Student’s for Grade 7 are General Science, Elementary

Algebra, Grammar and Philippine Literature, Pag-unawa with Ibong Adarna,

Philippine History and Government, Music, Arts, Physical Education & Health 7,

Agriculture, Culinary arts, Electronics, Drafting, or Business Management and Values

Education 7. And for the Grade 8 Subjects are Biology, Intermediate Algebra,

Grammar and Afro-Asian Literature, Gramatika with Florante at Laura, Asian History,

Music, Arts, Physical Education & Health 8, Agriculture, Culinary arts, Electronics,

Drafting or Business Management, Values Education 8, And the Grade 9 subjects are

Chemistry, Geometry, Panitikang Pilipino with Noli Me Tangere, World History, Music,

Arts, Physical Education & Health 9, Agriculture, Culinary arts, Electronics, Drafting,

or Business Management, Values Education 9, The last is the 10th Grade Subjects

are, Physics, Advanced Algebra, Trigonometry, and Statistics, Grammar and World

Literature, Panitikang Asyano with El Filibusterismo, Economics, Music, Arts, Physical

Functional Description

Principal - is to provide strategic direction in the school system. Principals develop

standardized curricula, assess teaching methods, monitor student achievement,

encourage parent involvement, revise policies and procedures, administer the budget,

hire and evaluate staff and oversee facilities.

Book Keeper - prepares bank deposits, verifies and balances receipts, pays and

prepares invoices after approval by the principal and monitors overdue accounts. All

of their financial duties must comply with Department of Education and school board

polices.

Disbursing Officer II - Receives and remits to the cashier daily cash collections

and verifies, reviews and consolidates collection reports; records and reports

discrepancies and adjustments in collection; prepares daily collection reports

and cash receipt vouchers and other documents to ledger and account books .

Guidance Counselor - Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to advise

and assist students with academic and vocational development. Evaluate students'

attributes and assist them in realizing their objectives. Develop and implement

counseling strategies with contemporary methods of mentoring.

Lady Guard - officers typically prevent crime or theft, ensure campus policy is being

followed, and protect the general welfare of students, faculty, and staff. These

individuals will be expected to be familiar with local law and legal procedures, so as

to best respond to theft or property damage if it occurs.

Janitress - work to keep schools, offices, libraries, and hospitals, clean and

maintained. They are often asked to work outside normal business hours sometimes

early in the morning or late at night so the building can be cleaned properly.

Department Chairpersons - is responsible for implementing College policy and rules

within the department. The chairpersons are responsible for supervising the

attendance, time commitments and work assignments of department faculty and staff.

Hardware and Software Requirements

To develop the system, the user needs to have minimum hardware

requirements, the researchers highly recommend to have at least 2GB RAM, and if

the users have 8GB RAM, it will be great experience, for processor Quad Core

2Ghz, 8GB Internal Storage, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and with an Operating System of

Android 5.0 or Lollipop Version.

In terms of software requirements, the researchers to have download Android

Studio IDE together with Android SDK which in you can find in official website for

Android Application Developments.
